Vancouver's opening ceremony is going to be ...indoor. We're already set up for a huge letdown.![]()
Indoor makes sense because they won't have to worry about a snow storm ruining the ceremony.

The last 2 weeks felt like a month. The closing ceremony was OK, nothing great. The London part looked cheap, and corny. Hopefully they have something
greater in store for 2012.

I'm afraid for my favorite city on earth in 2012. The tube isn't exactly a treat on its best day - WTF is going to happen during those two Olympic weeks? Oy. I hope the city doesn't crumble. It's just so old, poor thing. |

we were concerned for the traffic during the Olympics in LA in 1984...turns out most companies had employees take their vacations then and it was a sheer joy
to live here during those 2 weeks...London will do fine...they don't have to try to match China...no one will ever be able to.

Opening ceremony first part was great, closing ceremony sucked balls.

Yeah, I half rewatched/half ffw'd through the closing ceremony again -- lame. The memory tower was just plain strange, and the mactors pretending to be
athletes looking on winsomely as the flame was extinguished polluted the moment.
The London mayor looks like he'd had a few pints, too. Anybody catching the medallists on the talk shows? Misty & Kerry on Letterman last night were hilarious. Apparently W. recognizes Misty now only by her tramp stamp. |

Phelps is on Leno on Sept. 8. And he's hosting SNL on Sept. 13. Hope his SNL gig isn't as horrendous as Nancy Kerrigan's.

The difference in opening and closing ceremonies was huge. The opening ceremony was incredibly artistic and drew on centuries of Chinese culture that virtually
no other country on the planet, including our now sullied Republic, can match. People actually drawing on a huge parchment as they moved gingerly was extremely
artistic. By contrast, closing ceremonies looked like something that asshole Michael Bay might throw together and appealing primarily to fans of that cunt
Miley Cyrus or other bullshit teenybopper "music" that passes for art. By contrast, the opening ceremony was like classic Prince.

This is old news from a day after the closing ceremonies, but two South Koreans who won the gold in mens and womens archery are now getting married. They
waited until after the Olympics were over to announce their engagement.
