Hmm...time to get a little personal here. I went in for a root canal on Monday (July 14th). After the appointment the dentist prescribed some antibiotics (amoxicillian). I took them as directed for the next few days. I woke up Saturday morning with an itching sensation on my arms. I figured that it was time to put the cat's monthly flea medication on (Advantage...or whatever its called). But then I look up at the calender and realize that we had put it on him less than 2 weeks ago. So, I get up from bed and start scratching. As I begin to walk around the house I realize that the bottoms of my feet itch as well. WTF!? Right?
I look at my arms and realize that I have some sort of rash. Skinned colored bumps about the size of pin heads all over my arms down to my hands, I also notice them on my neck...they were also on the soles of my feet. I call the doctor asap and speak to a triage nurse seeing as that most doctor offices are closed on weekends. I describe the rash to her and she goes down a list of standard questions. She concludes that I was having an allergic reaction to the antibiotics. She tells me to stop taking them asap. She recommends I go to the nearest drug store and buy some regular Benadryl. She tells me to take the maximum dosage at the most minimal intervals recommended (2 pills every 4 hours). She warns me that it will make me drowsy and will probably be sleepy the entire weekend. She then goes on to tell me that if that if the rash doesn't clear up by Sunday evening to call and schedule an appointment with my doctor immediately.
Anywho...so, I did as she told me to do. Everything was going just fine. The rash started to go away and by the following morning the rash had definitely begun to alleviate. I continued taking the Benadryl as the nurse had directed me to.
Fast forward to Sunday night. Around 830pm I take my last dose for the day. I lay in bed for about an hour before I start to feel tired (it was kind of hard to fall asleep as I had been resting all through the weekend). Eventually a little after 930pm I doze off.
Zzzzzzzzzzzzzz.
I wake up...in an unfamiliar spot. My pillow is missing. As I begin to reach down to the ground to get my pillow, I realize that I'm on the floor...and not near my bed. I'm laying in front of my dresser near the bedroom door. There's no possible way I could've rolled off my bed all the way over to that spot. I get up, dazed and confused...and notice that my shirt feels damp. Night sweats? Perhaps. It was pretty warm last night and I found myself wrapped in a cover that I keep at the foot of my bed...and I don't remember unfolding it before falling asleep. So, I change my shirt and place damp one near the window to air out.
I wake up this morning wondering if that actually happened or not. I see the shirt I had changed out of near the window pane and I was wearing the clean dry shirt I had changed into while I was in that strange hazy fog. So, this must've happened.
My only possible explanation was that I was sleepwalking. Otherwise I'm really confused and kinda scared. :-/ My coworker/friend teased me and said that I had probably been abducted by aliens and they were probably in a rush and didn't have time to put me back exactly where they had found me. LoL...I know. But, dammit! I can't sleep now. Ugh.
Anyone else ever heard of sleepwalking while taking Benadryl? I tried doing some research online but came up with nothing.
Oh, well. Just thought I'd share.
