I agree that Sookie watching Godfrey meet the sun in the book was a nice touching moment. However, with the way they went in the show with Bill trying to save Sookie from Rene and slowly roasting himself alive (and I mean SLOWLY) , if they play that scene out in the show next season, it would just be horribly disgusting and totally ruined. I had always imagined it to be a somewhat quick death when a vamp would "meet the sun." Seeing Bill in the finale and how they portrayed it, it would be a very long, slow, painful death and the thought of Sookie sitting there all that time watching Godfrey "meet the light" slowly sizzling to death, the smell of that and everything -- gross. It will now be totally changed from a beautiful & sad moment to a sadistic & grossly terrifying moment.

I wasn't a fan of the added scene of Bill trying to save Sookie in the daylight, as I thought it was just too gratuitous and only added to try to continue to drive home that Bill loves Sookie and would do anything for her. Yeah, we get it. Even worse for me was how quickly he recovered from that horrible event. Next night he popped up and fed and is in perfect condition. Not enough of a consequence for something that is supposed to be death to a vampire. This is the one area I think too much creative license was taken and I am not a fan of it. But I still love the show and hope next season is even better.
