So the meat tastes better. In the spring/summer they have lighter coats and the meat is not as good. Cant wait to bag a few this fall.

Hunting season in most species coincides with their pre-mating season. It's the easiest way to cull a herd without killing pregnant or too small animals, since they've had a chance to grow to adulthood from the previous season's calving.
