And the only people I've ever met who have owned guns have owned like a .22 for picking off deer, never for defense. This could change things. That's what lead to the Lege passing the concealed carry law here. I knew that bus people were kind of skeevy here, but I thought that Canookians were above this kind of violence. All my ideals about the Great White North have been shattered.

After I thought about it a little though...I can kind of understand why they only gave him second degree murder. If they charged him with first degree it would be a hell of a lot more difficult to prove him guilty of the pre-meditation necessary for the conviction. Then the bastard would get off scot-free. I don't necessarily agree with that logic...but if it gets the fucker locked up...so be it. I just don't want to see this scumbag get off because he's declared insane or some stupid shit like that.

Canada wasn't going to hand him over to the american authorities because "we" don't believe in the death penalty, but the yanks were like "ok, fine then.
