I heard that prohibition was still law in Houston.
That's probably why my sis opted out. I would too.

lol I think you can drink anywhere in TX. They have drive through liquor stores.
Nomiii, that is part of the reason I hate driving. I also HATE having someone in front of me dictating how fast I can go. I also hate paying for gas and car insurance and repairs when a monthly El pass is only $75 a month - cheaper than gas alone. I don't get why people would even want a car in a city when you can walk/train it everywhere. |

Okay, I can't believe no one else has mentioned this...
Aren't you just going to move back to Maine after 6 months? |

Check out the MidAtlantic area...yes it can be hot and humid, but hey, that's why there is air conditioning. NC is home to a bunch of universities and
medical hospitals. Yeah, it's not big city living, and YOU WILL NEED A DAMN CAR, but the cost of living is reasonable and they actually said we have a gay
ghetto in our fair city...lolz.

I was kidding about the prohibition thing, but how bad would that suck?
There would have to be a crack dealer on every corner to make up for that faux pas. |

lol I think you can drink anywhere in TX. They have drive through liquor stores. Were you not paying attention to CBR? There are dry counties in Texas - most of them are out west, but there are some in the Dallas area. Granted, you can just drive to the next county or go to a "private" club to drink, but they exist. We actually ate at an Outback in a dry county by Lufkin (shut up - it was by far the best place to eat in the area) and we had to buy a $1 membership to their "club" in order to buy a drink. |

I also HATE having someone in front of me dictating how fast I can go.uhhhh have you ever been on a bus? and also other cars dont dictate that, cops do |

smokeitgood, if I am not driving, I don't mind the speed. Like, I didn't mind the slow zones on the El at all or the bus commute. When I am driving
though, it bothers me if I want to go 75 and the person in front of me is going 65. Driving stresses me out way too much.

In Houston, you would be able to manage without a car if you lived and worked in the Medical Center. There are several apartment complexes right off the light
rail so you could take that directly into the Med Center for work.
Of course, doing anything else would be difficult. You wouldn't even be able to go get groceries, though I think there are a couple of complexes that do have shuttles to the Fiesta by Reliant. Also, in Houston, you will not be able to enjoy the gay nightlife (which is a lot of fun by the way) if you don't have a car. There are no cabs. Well you could call a cab all the time if you really wanted to, but that would be a pain. |

lololol @ any advice that includes use of the light rail.
When I am driving though, it bothers me if I want to go 75 and the person in front of me is going 65.do they not have 3 lane highways where you live? and if driving stresses you out just pop in an nsync CD |

I usually have the radio, Wicked, Jersey Boys, or Hairspray playing.
I am so used to either walking to the grocery store or taking the bus. Driving just seems like such a waste. Ugh. It's looking like NYC/Boston/Chicago/DC/Miami? then. We do have 3 lane highways. However, I drive in the far left one that is supposed to go fast. When someone in front of me is doing 65 and the person in the other lane is doing 65, it's hard to pass. |
