bluesboi, we have several Tim Hortons here in Charleston, WV. I've avoided them like the plague because you Canookians have convinced me that everything in
there is like crack.

Currently @ 3 large Double Doubles a day.
I think I may have an addiction. |

Kitty, I was drinking a two liter in the afternoon and five or six bottles during the day. That is what, $4 a day? $120 a month. More if I buy sodas on the go
($1.49 a bottle, although I have bogof coupons up the wazoo). Whereas a month's worth of tea costs $5.39 plus water. For Foo that little bit of sodium
makes a difference, she has a heart defect.
I have two mortgages and one paycheck for the foreseeable future! I'm not giving it up forever, it just needs to be my second choice. I will still slurp it up like there's no tomorrow when I visit mom. This is also a way of proving that I can make a big change in my habits. I really want the next stop smoking thing to work. That is where I will save a true shitload of money and see some real health benefits! |

Water, drink water. It's good for youMy mom told me this for 20 years, about how bad soda and artificial sweeteners were for you. A situation happened where we were both in a room with a doctor for a completely unrelated reason and she just HAD to bring this up to prove to me how right she was. Doc* says "there's no problem, it's just basically carbonated flavored water." SCORE! *I will admit it was a Doc in the Box. |

Does the Doctor know anything about sugar, high fructose corn syrup, and other crap that leads to diabetes and obesity?

A 2 liter bottle of soda is about 800 calories and depending on the size of single size bottles, 180-200 calories each? Having five or six bottles plus the
liter is like 1800-2000 extra calories a day?
Yikes! To your health, Tres! Good for you! |

See Kitty's post #18. All she discusses is caffeine free diet soda.
Yeah, Pfoofe, CBR is right. I've always had just diet sodas. I don't like the slimey feeling of regular sodas on my tongue. |

Tres,
If it's any help, I gave up soda pop and empty-calorie drinks in general just about 5 years ago. At the same time I started drinking 3 quarts of water a day. I don't feel one damn bit better, and it's a nuisance having to remember to drink all that water every damn day, but I have to say I don't even think about soft drinks at all any more. I bet you will be the same way. Good luck! |

Tres - you can do it!!! I was addicted to caffiene - would have to drink a 20oz Pepsi just to wake up in the morning, and would drink at least 2 more
throughout the day. I quit cold turkey last October and never looked back! If you can't get into drinking water, try some of those Crystal light things you
add to water bottles, then slowly wean off to water. Also, if you are craving the bubbly, have some Sprite or root beer. =)

We just recently started having pop in our house after going without most of my childhood.
Meh, I drink maybe 1-2 cans a week? I prefer alcohol or coffee for my addictions, kthx. |

Pop isn't very high in sodium but the acid is wicked bad for your stomach. Not to mention all the sugar. I used to drink it once per day but now I usually
have one every 3-5 days. I don't think I could give it up completely. It's just so god damn good.
