go in November..
November is the 'sharkiest' month of the year there...probably due to the Humpback whale migrations/birthing of calves. 
^tiger sharks attacking a whale calf..note how they target the fluke to weaken the whale^ take a nice long swim off of Waikiki beach (after visiting Dukes for copious amounts of booze) maybe, with luck you can run into a 18 footer.. 
or even an occational pregnant great white (pic was taken in Nov...Oahu's north shore by Jimmy Hall (RIP) 
I was there in October (Oahu) and it was still rainy with some real pleasant days mixed in. Hawaii is awesome. lots of Japanese tourists and h-1 and h-2 are always jammed with traffic. ABC stores aplenty for alcohol, beer and cigarettes |

Flights can vary you can get nice nonstops from EWR on Continental or LAX if you are West Coast. www.kayak.com is one of the best airline search tools on the internet and it beats paid official airline ticketing software by a mile. Its so far (for most ppl) so stay at least 7-8 nights. Flying between Maui and Honolulu is easy and pretty cheap flight go every hour, every day. Try a local travel agent. |
