My problem with Melissa so much isn't that fact that she has had so much dance training, or that she isn't a star, it's that she is the extreme of
BOTH these things. She is one of the least known people to ever be on the show, and she's probably had more dance training than any contestant on the show,
ever! (based on her profession; she would have to train in dance for hours a day). Yes, she is well known by the show's target audience, but she only did
one season of the show. Trista Stutter and Kim Kardashian and (especially) Holly can be considered reality "stars" because they have been on multiple
seasons of multiple reality shows. Kim was probably considered the least deserving contestant to be on the show last season, and she at least has a famous
family who's been on TV for a couple of seasons (and a sex tape...). Where does that leave Melissa?
Gilles may not be a star, but he hasn't really trained in dance. Same thing with Brooke. Shawn may have gymnastics/ballet training, but she is a star. Kristi Yamaguchi had a lot of ballet traing (like 20 years ago), but she is probably one of the most respected and well known celebrities to ever be on the show. No one has ever been as unknown AND overqualified as Melissa. Usually they are only one or the other.
BTW, this is a terrible F3. So predictable... maybe the freestyles will be awesome, I hope, unless Tony blows it again.
