Perhaps never in fast food history has a cheeseburger caused such a commotion.

If what police say is true, Randy Bailey wanted to have one his way: Now!

A manger at the Burger King on Maryland Avenue in St. Paul says Bailey pulled into the drive-thru lane and demanded an "F------" cheeseburger and a F------ order of fries."

According to criminal records, when employees refused to serve him, Bailey got out of his car and "using his hands, fists and feet as weapons," destroyed the drive-up window, causing more than $1,000 in damage.

Witnesses wrote down a license plate number which police traced to Bailey's home.

But when they arrived at his doorstep, Bailey told the cops that they had the wrong guy. He said he'd previously been arrested on a drunk driving charge and that he couldn't leave his house because he had an electronic monitoring device strapped to his leg.

A home monitoring supervisor for Ramsey County says, if you leave your house wearing one of those ankle bracelets, then you have about six minutes to get back home before an alarm goes off. Like anyone else who's been ordered to wear one, Randy Bailey would have known that.

We (KARE-11 News) timed it. And from Bailey's front door, if you obey all the traffic laws as you drive about one mile to that Burger King, and you zip past the drive-thru window and then back to his house, you can make it in well under six minutes. In fact, you can make it in less than four minutes.

That means one of two things: Randy Bailey may be telling the truth. Or, he's telling one big Whopper of a lie.
