Well, I think that they increased the # of contestants since they are anticipating some injuries.
If 2 people get hurt & pulled from the game - it's like a normal season of 16 contestants. I didn't even watch last season but heard that 3 guys got hurt & one woman quit. |

So, yeah, I'm gonna go with "no." |

Why would they be anticipating injuries, you would think if they thought injuries were going to happen they would have done something, not just say, "Okay let's add two more people for when someone gets hurt!" Not a good guess. |

Isn't it obvious, they will have the stoopid double boot episodes where a winning team will still have to vote someone out, then they'll have the post
merge double boot tribal, where after they vote Jeff says "we're not done" and they have to vote a 2nd person with having the chance to talk
before the voting starts.
Both of which are bullshit twists to the game. Of course if there are injuries and/or Kathy's, err I mean quitters, then they'll do away w/ one or both as needed. Then fuck over a good play by having a final 2 instead of a final three, poor Cirie................................... |

Well, to douche's credit, Probst did say that "this is the season where someone would get careless and get really hurt" So obviously they were
kinda concerned about that pre-show seeing as they are in a location with unpredictable animals.

In the past 16 seasons of this show, there have been 5 medical evacuations from the game. One of the most dramatic episodes of all time (if not the most dramatic) had no one being voted out, but a medial evacuation that served as the focus of the episode. Not to mention that, of the eight people who have left this game at a non-pre-determined time (i.e. not at Tribal Council or Jonathan/Wanda), a mere two came from 16-player seasons, which make up far more than a quarter of Survivor seasons (and that's not even counting Ian's impromptu TC). The Mike and Bruce evacuation episodes were both absolutely fantastic too. Evacuations tend to be powerful episodes (at least, they were before they happened every other season--and before the medical issues were caused by friggin' challenges), and if someone quits, it's casting's fault for putting them through in the first place. The producers should never be counting on either. |
