Posts: 7761 (08/25/08 11:11 PM) Registered User Reply Quote More Recent Posts Message Connection Block Invite	Just saying this because I didn't realize it when I got it, but with a HDTV it automatically picks up free HD channels (CBS, FOX, ABC, NBC, PBS) if your area makes them available. And if your TV's built in antenna doesnt pick it up you can go and buy a cheap rabbit ear antenna and hook it up and that will pick up HD channels for free as well. So you can watch Survivor in HD without even having the service.

I myself have a Samsung. Don't ask for help at like best buy or whatever, they dont give you shit except force their warantees on you (which is a rip off btw). Shop around online and read customer reviews, that's your best bet.

That's fine, I guess, as long as they change a little bit of it to make it seem like one long premiere and not make it so obvious that they are two different episodes. Let's make this a big Survivor event, darn it!

Second of all, I dont think that would be a 2 hour of episode 1. I think it would be episode 1 + 2. My reasoning: it's only one month left and by now the editing and post production must have reached about episode 4. So I don't think they would recut episode 1. AND if they only do episode one that week, that would've pushed the finale date to 20th December. They can't do promotion of new episode near christmas, everybody would want a break. (well if they erased the recap episode then it would be possible)

I still think it's a two hour long premiere, maybe I'm an optimist, but I really do think if they were going to show the first two episodes back to back, they would promote it as such i.e. " Don't Miss the first two episodes of Survivor Gabon, back to back, on Sept 25th". The promotion I saw clearly said a " Two Hour Premiere Episode" and the same is stated in the press release, but we'll see.

What are you talking about? What happened in Vanuatu? It didnt have 2 hours premiere, didn't it? The only season that has long premiere i think were Amazon and Pearl Island. And do you know how many hours of tapes they have to see and recut to add 1 hour of reality show? Not to mention the visual effects and sound effects and the music that have to be added to that additional 1 hour? But we'll see on Wednesday when the cast is announced.

The poster was talking about how originally the Vanuatu premiere was two hours long, one episode. But then, a few weeks before premiere night, it was rescheduled to be one hour, and you can tell that the editors had to quickly cut the length of the episode in half, basically. It resulted in a relatively weak opening episode.

I am sure they will spend the $$ to cover up any imperfections on JP. With HDTV we may actually be thankful to have the fit and beautiful castaways this season. Could you imagine Denise and her underwear in HDTV??? .. I'm just sayin'... The season is starting one week later with a 2 hour premier. I assume there will still be only 1 and not 2 castaways sent home. If there is only 1 then we have the season lasting one week longer as well.

Oh. well it's easier to cut things down than to add something up, you know? coz cutting episode doesnt involve creating new music, new visual effects, covering falling boobs and butts. I'm not being pessimistic but just being realistic. hahaha

It most likely takes at least a whole work day to put together a 1-minute segment of camp life. Also add to that the fact that they have to tell a story at the same time, so it's not just showing us something and slapping a confessional or two on there. They need to decide within a few weeks what they want to show for an hour's worth of television time, how they would cut it to tell the story of Gabon better, find the camp clips, find the appropriate confessional sound bites, put them together, cut them down, add in the music, mix in the sound, etc. Yeah, I don't think there is an editing team in television that would be able to logically do this in a few weeks while still working on future episodes, especially when they can just show the first two episodes back to back, which is what they are doing.
