It was close to the merge and they didn't want to keep immunity threats around (that they also assumed would flip back to their old alliance). They might assume wrongly that Dan would flip back to Fang at the merge. I could see Dan voted out for this reasons. Susie isn't an immunity threat and they might figure out that they can easily get Randy's vote.

I think their edits are going to start picking up because they definitely seem like end gamers. The problem is that Kota hasn't been to tribal council except once. That doesn't give them a lot of story to tell yet.

Marcus is the leader, clearly and has had a pretty good case to make for being a winner. Charlie has been mostly all "I love marcus" while Corrine has been observing and making moves based on that. I could see her getting blasted in the end game for being a bitch (like she says she is). THe only thing that has me unsure who wins is that Marcus would be a good guess but Ace and Sugar's relationship has been focused on since the beginning. That usually means end game. On a seperate note, I think that Ken/Kelly/Crystal/GC have the numbers. If they lose till the merge they can vote off Sugar, Ace and then Matty of Kelly and still make the merge. They would have the to then convince Randy to come back with them which wont happen since he hates all three of the fang members.

Five people voted out and then an early merge, which means that this swap only lasts two rounds. And we lost Ms. Berg last week. If Kota doesn't throw the next challenge, I'll be shocked. So it probably won't happen. Or will it? Marcus is going to wet himself when he sees that Jacques is gone. And I do believe they all know when the merge is taking place, but I could be wrong. Zhan Hu was done by 2 in the numbers and Jaime and Peih Gee had planned on throwing the next two IC's to get even at the expected merger. They chose Aaron first because they knew that he was in the core group at Fei Long since both Jaime and Dave had spent time there. With Kota the numbers are currently even and onion group member Jacquie is already gone. We have already seen that Randy/Dan/Susie bashing GC/Crystal/Ken after they arrived at Kota, so there is no loyality between them and most of their old tribe members that remained on Fang. Kota could throw IC's to save Sugar/Ace. As Sugar is emotionally unstable and Ace can't be trusted, it seems more likely to me that old Kota would work to form new alliances with their new tribe members rather than throw ICs to get rid of Fang.

Agreed Randy would not join back up with them, but it might not take that. They could do what Ken did by picking Kelly - look for fellow alliance outsiders, and try to bring them in. Even if one gets booted it'll still be 7-6. But I don't think the merge is THIS early.

It would reduce the variety of the jurors and reduce the skill level of the game because you would have less people to worry about being bitter and voting for you to win. I adamantly prefer a final 2 with an odd numbered jury. It keeps the game clean and focuses on being the "sole survivor". I don't mind "twists", but in order to get good game play, the castaways should know BEFORE the game starts what the structure of the end game is --- how man in the finals, how big is the jury and how deadlock ties are broken at tribal council. I also think ALL votes should be read so that Probst cannot "hide" votes in order to keep their preferred castaways like Jeff, Big Tom, Frank and Christy under the radar. The whole final 3 simply seemed like a bitter reaction to Mark Burnett's man crush on Terry and his disappointment that Terry was knocked out after losing the final IC. Having an the potential for a tie vote at the final TC was caca, unless it is known before hand how that deadlock tie would be broken. Just my pet peeve. But no smaller jury than 7. It reduces the accountability portion of the game which makes winning more difficult.

I think last season showed us a reason (from a production standpoint) why they don't do that. It allows them flexibility if unforeseen circumstances (medivacs) force a deviation from the planned game setup.
