Well, if one of the biggest (the biggest?) in the country fails, I am not quite sure how I would go about choosing a "safer" one anyway. Meanwhile,
would a bank that can bail out two other huge financial corps be likely to fail too?
My brother has been telling me this was about to happen for at least 14 months now. grrrrrr, I hate this stuff, I suck at it, and, since I moved, the nearest WAMU is 45 minutes away, so I was about to change anyway...but change to WHAT? Natch, I just got home and turned on the news and now everyone I know IRL is asleep, so there is no one to ask. Something tells me, in a few hours when the bank opens, there will be a hell of a lot of people clearing out their accounts, no matter how many assurances that "your account number won't even change." |

Unless you have more than $100,000.00, $200,000.00 if joint account you just need to go slow and find a bank near where you live and try not to get hysterical. Anything under $100,000.00 per person is insured!! OK Now Let's get this party started for the weekend!!

Lola? Zip is so right about WaMu. If you have a normal bank account like the rest of us shlubs you should be just fine. My best friend is an accountant and graduated at the top of her class in economics told me the same thing when we were talking about it today. Wow that sounded elitist. Um just meant she's not a retard like me and I trust her take on all economic matters. I feel like putting on some tunes and dancing Zip!
