Took three months to write. 64 pages. Got an A. Still have it in its original clear protective covering in an old box of high school crap somewhere in the attic.

I focus on virtual ass sniffing as a means of identification, the hierarchy and class structure of tribal leaders and their sycophants, the efficacy of taunts regarding gross tonnage and threats of social services, and the inherent fascism behind the ban button. I had English 7th period and my last name is halfway through the alphabet. First choice: Politics, deemed to broad. Then: Politics in the 1960s, still too broad. Finally: Black Politics in the 1960s, which my teacher then renamed to what it became. Oh, yeah, they had to be typed, double spaced, with cover page, opening thesis statement and closing synopsis, broken into three sections with section titles, no liquid paper or correction tape, complete with footnotes and full bibliography, and spelling and grammar counted. Oh, yeah, that's how we did it in the olden days before every stinkin' snot nosed kid had a home computer, Microsoft Word with spellcheck, and the interwebs for research. And the grade was a full one third of our final grade. You failed the thesis, you failed Senior English, which meant you failed Senior Year and did NOT graduate.

That would have given you that A+, yo.

It was 130 pages, including the first 80 pages of my novel, and a literary review and analysis of other works of fiction in that genre, culture, and time period. It was a beast.

And then to find proof that other than the adict not eating, that there was a nutritional effect. One thing that I did find that was interesting was that some people have absolutely no reaction to opiate based drugs - they simply don't work at all on them and there weren't handy dandy ways to look up articles: card catalogs and then the bibliographies from the articles I found to go even further. Books weren't much help on my topic and yeah, I had to use a typewriter - fortunately by that time I had one with that correcting tape
