Who compares Bush to a monkey physically? I thought the general monkey comparison was in reference to his intelligence. I understand the irony that you're trying to illustrate, but when you bring in the whole NAACP, it comes off as racism. But whatever...

I understand the sentiment of wanting to crack down on government welfare in light of the abuses, but there are people who genuinely need the help and do not take advantage of it as a way of life. The original idea was a safety net, and that idea is a sound one. Unfortunately, there will always be abusers no matter how strict the process. To say you want to "stop government handouts" as if everyone applying for assistance is a cheat or thief is ridiculous. The system should be vigilant in weeding out abusers, but the focus should remain squarely on those that fit the need profile.

As for Katrina - New Orleans isn't exactly wall-to-wall rich upper class suburbia, and not everyone has the means to leave their homes on a moment's notice. Contrary to what you say, I'm willing to bet a lot of people stayed because they had weathered hurricanes in the past, and figured they could do it again for the umpteenth time. Unfortunately for them, the government levees failed.

As for insurance - what are you, an insurance agent? I've never heard anyone defend the insurance companies that are famous for nitpicking their way out of fulfilling policies every chance they get. In the wake of such a catastrophic event that impacted so many people, its colossally underhanded to try and avoid policy payments because how water damage happened might be interpreted differently in a different legal venue. I'm willing to bet that the vast majority of policy holders in Louisiana bought water damage protection for their homes precisely because it's a hurricane zone - and I'm willing to bet they paid a hefty premium because of it.

I don't know anyone who really gives a shit about what Kanye West says. But there seems to be a pattern of thought here the takes specific incidents and blows them up into gross generalizations. Your monkey joke seems to be a peripheral symptom of it. It's not OK (at this time) to call a black man a monkey because of its use historically to justify social abuses to black folk as a whole. Your argument is akin to calling Obama a nig.ger, then asking why it's OK to call Bush a nig.ger and not Obama. You're playing ignorant on purpose. If that's you're shtick, good luck. If it's how you really think, hopefully I can change your outlook.
