I was merely pointing the absurdities if AMAI's logic with an absurd example of their logic, taken to the extreme. Although it isn't that extreme or
improbable because it does occur when poor and unskilled people become economically desperate and no government support system exists. Lighten the frig up.

I just wasted 14 minutes listening to Obama's so called plans, by my estimate he used 10 of those minutes talking about how crappy the economy is and how
out of touch the Pubs are and used the other four minutes to talk in vague generalities about how "his" plans will fix everything.
Listening to how his plan will cut the taxes of 95% of of taxpayers, I have to ask a simple question... How many new jobs will that create? Are the people who are going to receive these tax breaks going to start new businesses and hire out of work people? Not likely, it's the five percent he's planning to soak who are the ones who create new jobs by business investment and creation. If he's really so worried about the unemployment rate, then what is his plan on illegal immigrants who help to keep the low end of wages down by working below minimum wage and off the books? What about foreign worker visa programs (like the H1b) that are taking formerly high paying jobs from U.S. citizens and handing them to visa workers at half the salary? Come on Obama, I want to hear ten minutes of specifics and details, not ten minutes of lamenting about how bad things are and how it's all the fault of the other party. Show me some vision, show me some "hope", show me something other than worthless platitudes. Looks like I'll be voting for Bob Barr this election. |

Not likely, it's the five percent he's planning to soak who are the ones who create new jobs by business investment and creation. Those company's are getting tax breaks right now and they are STILL sending jobs overseas, even though they are still making a shitload. I work for one of them (AT&T) so I know first hand experience that they don't give a shit. He also states that he'll reward company's that don't ship jobs overseas and open up new positions here. That's what the Repubs don't get! The big corporations are getting tax breaks now but still sending things overseas because now they're getting more money, so why pay workers here more when you can save and ship them over to BFE. Here you go specifically: Reward Companies that Support American Workers: Barack Obama introduced the Patriot Employer Act of 2007 with Senators Richard Durbin (D-IL) and Sherrod Brown (D-OH) to reward companies that create good jobs with good benefits for American workers. The legislation would provide a tax credit to companies that maintain or increase the number of full-time workers in America relative to those outside the US; maintain their corporate headquarters in America if it has ever been in America; pay decent wages; prepare workers for retirement; provide health insurance; and support employees who serve in the military.

Bush has just had more time to fuck things up on his own. He's also the marionette playing frontman for the more seasoned Cheney, which is exactly what Obama would be as President, only Biden-as-puppeteer probably wouldn't shoot a lawyer in the face unless the Secret Service was in on the action. |

Not likely, it's the five percent he's planning to soak who are the ones who create new jobs by business investment and creation. Well... the lower income folks are much much more likely to spend the money they get back from the federal government on goods and services, stimulating the economy to create more jobs, rather than just hanging on to that money the way that rich folk who don't really need the tax break would. And Obama does have plans to support small business owners including: Provide Tax Relief for Small Businesses and Start Up Companies: Barack Obama will eliminate all capital gains taxes on start-up and small businesses to encourage innovation and job creation. Obama will also support small business owners by providing a $500 "Making Work Pay" tax credit to almost every worker in America. Self-employed small business owners pay both the employee and the employer side of the payroll tax, and this measure will reduce the burdens of this double taxation. http://origin.barackobama.com/issues/economy/ |

The interesting thing about the argument "ad absurdium" is what it reveals about the person proffering it. Only a very few really twisted individuals
could even conceive of those lengths to which you just took it, Strange Flute.
In addition, you haven't much of an argument against, if absurdities are all you have. |

American Workers includes workers in Guam, Puerto Rica and American Samoa. And I saw something on either 60 minutes or Dateline about the workers in American
Samoa - most of them are people enticed to move there to work in factories, in debt to the company man and forced to live in barracks or worse. However clothes
and goods made there are allowed to proudly display the Made in America stamp
And you'd better hope some industries, like the oil industry, is still allowed to bring in foreign workers to help find and produce oil and gas - our schools aren't producing enough of them |

For the illlegal immgration:
Barack Obama has championed a proposal with Senators Charles Grassley (R-IA), Ted Kennedy (D-MA) and Max Baucus (D-MT) to create a new employment eligibility verification system so employers can verify that their employees are legally eligible to work in the U.S. |
