You can't actually film the show in a neutral way, what with the team selection process, weighted challenges and twists. I agree 100%. Not only do I think this sort of thing isn't really all that big a deal, I also think that most Survivor fans-- deep down-- already know that the show has to fudge certain details just to make it into a TV show. I think most Survivor fans already KNOW that this stuff goes on. So to me, the big story here isn't Nicole spilling details that most people already know about. The big deal to me is why CBS continues to have such a shit fit about it, and why they continue to act like spoiled brats and/or bullies whenever a former castmember decides to spill info. THAT is the juicy story here. Nicole isn't us telling us things we don't already know about. For example, I don't think any fan of Survivor history can sit there with a straight face and say that the first season wasn't manipulated in some way. I mean, all the evidence is there. The producers didn't want all the old people picked off early, so they "suggested' that Sean and Dirk vote for Stacey instead of Rudy in episode 3. I believe that it was totally manipulated. I also think that the producers got caught with their hands in the cookie jar (the Stacey lawsuit) and they vowed never to do that again. But do you know what? I really don't have a problem with it. The producers of Survivor have one job as I see it, and that is to put on a smash hit television show. If reshooting TC scenes and "suggesting" boot choices and using stand-in challenge doubles helps them put out a better product, I have no problem with that at all. Never have. Like I said, the big story here isn't Nicole's (yawn) revelations, it is the fact that eight years later CBS is STILL throwing shit fits about this. Why do they care so much? What are they worried we are going to find out about? Why are most of the alums terrified to even talk about this?

LOL! OMG...my love for Nicole just skyrocketed even more.

Even though it is a reality show it is still a TV show. Yep. And Burnett has never ever even claimed it was a "reality show!" That is a label that the media made up back in 2000, and it bugs me how it has always stuck. Survivor has never claimed it was 100% reality. Just like everything else on TV, it is a television show. Burnett has said this since day one. It isn't reality, it is an "unscripted drama." It's a fictional narrative made up of actual footage. That's a big difference.
