OTH, what's your take on the "I am the glue" omission from the episode?
Ya know, that is something I meant to bring up. Thanks for the reminder. The immediate thought I had, not surprisingly, was Todd and Amanda in China, where two straight ads had Amanda going after Todd in the "next time" preview that were excised from the show. To what end was that? My feeling, it was to keep you prepared for Amanda's need to take out Todd or else he'll win, but only as a slight bump in the noggin', so that the real drama is during the finale.
So the glue statement is used in an episode where Kenny (per the edit, mind you) gets Fang and Sugar to "stick" together. It is a quick reinforcement that leaves the viewer thinking a little bit more of Kenny before CSI starts, so there's no crediting anyone else. The recap this time did the same thing, then it was the Randy show.
So I'd say that they had the footage and instead of forcing it into this ep, they used it to best advantage, and instead allowed this one to be the Randy/Sugar showdown. It is also interesting that in not much screentime (save an IC win that average fans talk about, don't forget) Kenny was mentioned by two players, slathered by Probst, and got to comment on his knowledge of another player. That's a lot different than Susie, isn't it?
On the opposite side, did Matty have anything good that stood out? I keep waiting for a better, insightful characterization to show up and it doesn't with him.
Michael
P S By insightful, I mean that where is Matty's reasoning to join up with the Fang members he was ready to turn on early? Where is his reasoning re: a pact with Sugar, how he isn't as tight with anyone as Crystal/Kenny are? That's what's missing. Who is his closest relationship with? Who is putting him in danger?
