This episode was the best edit Kelly got this season, and it wasn't OTTN., though I agree that Kelly got a sucky edit overall.* Darn, I was afraid that would be misunderstood by the SWGophiles.... Sorry, I was referring to the vicious, delicious editing of Kelly overall, not just in the boot episode (which nevertheless still was 1-D and N, hence OTTN). But Kelly did NOT get a sucky edit: she got masterful editing that shows how easily they can turn anybody into anything they want. Marcus and Bob will be child molesters next week if that's the editors' whim. Me, I couldn't care less about all these almostfamous wannabes--all I care about is the editing.

She tells us that she doesn't think Crystal was weak, (which she repeats at TC), but that the issue was that Crystal cried and broke down in front of Kota. It's an astute point from a member of a not so astute tribe.

I'm going to play devil's advocate here and say that both Marcus and Randy are huge distractions, and that the real winner is among the mixed MOR/UTR players who will slowly emerge as the season progresses. (Maybe Corinne and Charlie join forces with Sugar and Fang rejects after Ace goes and flip the script on everyone and Corinne goes on to win. I really hope she doesn't just get stuck with an OTTN or MORN or something. I gave her a CPM4. I think her, Ace AND Crystal were all M. The viewer was left up to decide who they wanted to stay and who they wanted to go, because all 3 were targets and they were all basically edited in the same way.

Marcus - MOR3 - He is so bland!!! I want to throw up, but what can I do, he's the winner.... Randy - OTTN + CP = MORN? Can I do that? MORN2 Susie - UTR1 Ace - OTTN5 - that's how I felt about him... Sorry, but I just don't see the rationale for CP for Kelly this episode. Most of her screen presence this episode was as part of Crystal's story (her 2 confessionals were predominately about Crystal). She got several questions at TC, but these were mainly about Crystal, then about Ace. We did not see her at all between the conclusion of the IC and the beginning of TC, which is unusual for the person being booted. Looking at some of the guidelines for a CP edit. "CP means a character that is well-developed. Their editing has depth to it, and their choices are presented to the audience so that we get an insight into their thinking." I don't think Kelly was a well developed character and I don't think we gained much insight into her thinking, other than Crystal sucks. We were not shown what she may or may not have done to try to save herself, or even if she considered herself at risk. "CP shows complexity of thought about the game, and or complex emotions that might be construed as Positive or Negative." I don't think what we were shown of Kelly showed any compexity of thought or any complex emotions - quite the opposite in fact. The contestant showing complexity of emotion was Crystal (we were given insight into what made her cry). "Someone who expresses internal conflict over a situation, someone who expresses a "deep" or turbulent emotion like remorse, loneliness, or betrayal expressed intelligently" I didn't see any conflict or deep emotion from Kelly - it was Crystal sucks or Ace is a double talker. The first guideline for OTT starts with "OTT means a character that is being characterized or simplified. In story terms, they are the villains and heroes" I believe that Kelly had a very simplified edit this episode - she was used to develop Crystal's story. We learned next to nothing about Kelly the real person. The audience were supposed to be happy that this negative-energy, poor challenge performer finally got the boot. Whether that is a "fair" edit is a completely different question - Kelly would not be the first contestant to be skewered by the editing team. I'm hoping it goes the way that I eat a lot of crow when Marcus gets blindsided circa early merge. I think Charlie, Corrine and even Bob would be more interesting characters if they weren't tied only to his story. Hell, I've almost completely forgotten about the whole Kota tribe- it'll be hard to get on their bandwagon if all of Fang goes out 1,2,3. I personally would like to see Ken and Sugar go to the end together.

Well, I was mentioning the Kelly conf. more for the light shown on Crystal. It's a negative that should be credited to Kelly, even if we all think she's a N write-off herself. The eds let her make her point twice. But it has no complexity for Kelly. All we know is she's hungry, likes saying "Be-yach", and thinks walking around like an old Marky Mark video is sexayy.

A few cost me valuable time I'll never get back, but I don't have much to do besides sneezing and wheezing my night away anyhow. So here goes. Kotamanycolors Bob - UTR1 - a positive guy who gets shafted even when catching a turtle. I wouldn't fight a P vote, but he didn't even get a confessional about it (and Susie did!) Underutilized and it's a shame. Got more time bitching on Dan that being shaped for himself. Charlie - INV - nothing of importance. Fits INV guidelines as he was insignificant, not developed and got little or no confessionals in middle episode. Corrine - UTR2 - complained, rightfully, about Dan. Could have done more. She's cute when she smiles. Dan - OTTN2 - he can't be UTR as he A)was not hidden and B)was not void of direct conflicts, yet he is OTT as he A) is simplified as the overeating idiot, B) again edited with clear Tone, and C) no internal conflict shown. Marcus - UTR3 - Deliberately not made OTT as "The Hero" but gets that mild, slight P tone that fans see and forget, only to have it bankroll in their minds later. Edgicians see this, easy, but it's easy for once-a-weekers to look past it. Randy - OTTN2 - see Dan re: OTT, not UTR, substituting "sore winner" for "overeating idiot". He showed insight in distancing himself from Dan, yes, but this is still OTT this episode. The RC footage before and after, even in confessional form, calls attention to him, in the worst way. Susie - UTR1 - likes turtle. (Has anyone here ever tried it? If you didn't tell me what it was, I might try it, but I don't know...) Wouldn't fight INV, I just remember saying out loud, "And they didn't show Bob..." where I forgot anything Charlie said completely. Whatever. Fangyouverymuch Ace - CPN5 - devious, still smary, the snake, and in a position of supremacy. He will make fans cheer when he gets deposed. He also lied at TC, he did comdemn Crystal as another GC to Kelly, though he was smart to defend himself. Crystal - CPN5 - she might want to win badly, but the one who was to run the hell out of this game was told to stop by Matty after she couldn't keep up, once again. Trading barbs with Randy is fine, but at camp Matty tried to ignore her weakness claim, said she wasn't, then she can't let it go and has to run to Kelly and Ace because Kelly had not said anything to her yet and not because Kelly had done anything, the TC blowup was poor on her, but the kicker was Probst after the IC, clearing saying that if Fang continues to "act like individuals" they will keep losing, with the camera cutting to Ace and Crystal, followed by a rare confessional before the IC break from Crystal, who said Ace isn't benefiting "...me." She wasn't given a commercial break to fail to heed Probst's words and continue to worry and act on her own as an individual. The placement of that confessional was clear and intentional. Kelly - OTTN3 - she ends up N, from trashed comments to the calling out of Ace that reflects poorly on her, even if correct. No insight, all flat out exposition, even when correct about not calling Crystal weak, to being concerned about how Kota views them. See ya, beyotch. I dig the "pull your buff up to show off your bra" look. Ken - MOR3 - he's not CP, as he wasn't multi-dimensional, but instead our ears to further Sugar's idol story, Crystal's suspicions of Matty, the warning to Matty about Ace, the rice situation and nothing about where he is. Note the recap showed rice sticking to the pot then Ken says it this episode, the editors are trying at least. Matty - OTTP5 - the good guy, whose word you can trust. He tried to start leading his tribe a la Marcus, but his "Goof Troop" can't cut it. I think he called his exit, "[Sugar] can play the idol and I can leave." He was warned about Ace but won't go back on it. He's a better version of Austin, a guy you wished could win, but won't get close. Sugar - OTTP3 - laying it on thick, is she really guilty over eating? She said so, and we are supposed to agree. (Is she really? Really?) She is clueless as a player, but instead of being made to look stupid, instead she is shown with some foresight about Ace, but she again fits the distraction of the player I am supposed to love this time. Winner is Marcus. You know that, too. Randy is getting the edit a F3 member gets, where you want to see what other will say to him, and what he'll say back. "I guess that's one way to get from one side to another." It might be damn little story and it might be there to support other people's stories (Marcus and Randy in this case), but it's story and that's not INV. KOTA Bob - UTR1 - He got a supporting role in Dan's OTT edit. Did well in the RC! Visibility - Solid 1 Charlie - INV1 - Geeez, now there is no one left but Marcus for sure! Visibility - Weak 1 Corinne - UTR2 - Two confessionals complaining about Dan the Pig. Visibility - Weak 2 because she had 2 confessionals. Dan - OTTN2 - The first 2 scenes of our complex tribe were all about Dan eating too much and nothing else. Wow …even in the turtle scene they show him shoving food in his mouth... 50 bucks says he's gone next week. Visibility - Medium 2 Marcus - UTR3 Like last week he gets another weak 3 in visibility. I was impressed that he knew how to clean a turtle…I don't think that it is all that easy. Visibility - Weak 3 or Strong 2 Randy - OTTN2 Could be MORN2… Visibility - Medium 2 Susie - UTR1 Turtle gumbo…how cool is that. Visibility - Solid 1 FONG Ace - CPN5 They are setting him up for a Big fall. By the way he lied at TC. Visibility - solid 5 Crystal - CPN5 Matty wanted to get the work done because they had a cloudy day and they show Crystal not wanting to go along. The theme at TC was that they do not work together…another 50 bucks says she's gone next week. Visibility - Weak 5 Ken - MOR4 He was there. Visibility - Medium 4 Kelly - OTTN3 No comment Visibility - Strong 3 or very weak 4 Matty - OTTP5 I guess…tough one Visibility - Weak 5 Sugar - MORP3 No one has noticed that she has been putting on weight! Bob UTR1...... Barely there Bob. Tells us Dan's hogging. Shows how a fifty year old man does it in the RC. Catches Randy's turtle. Charlie INV.. He gets to give Dan a nasty look. Corinne UTR1...... I had such hopes for the hard-playing wonder-bitch. Sigh... Dan OTTN2..... So so so dead. ...and he knows it. Marcus MOR3... Kill me now. His edit is designed to bore us too death. Randy OTTN2... At least we got dudes like Randy to save the season! You're a loser on Survivor, but a winner in my twisted heart, Randy. And you're probably right about the marriage thing. Susie UTR1..... Significant gumbo promotion...in the jungle....in Africa.... Turtle UTRP1..... ............ Though barely seen, it gets much positive SPV and is shown in multiple scenes, though as sorta bits and pieces of itself. Obviously positive bits and pieces. Fungytown (to the tune of Funkytown)... ... ...... Ace CPN5... This would have a much more entertaining season if Ace, or Randy, or (a bitchier) Corinne won. But they don't. Ah well, with complex edits like this we may have them for a while yet. ..... Crystal CPN5...... Crystal knows what needs to be done, but she's been letting her impulsive nature stir things up too much. Her emotions spin her decision-making around until she's defeated her own plans. It was no mistake that Kelly got to critique her twice and JP repeated the "unstable" bit. Kenny MOR4 Ken was all over the strategy scenes. Interesting how much more confident he looked at TC. Convincing Sugar to take the idol back was huge. He's feeling like he's finally got a handle on his fate. .... Kelly MORN3...... Oh thank you thank you. No Kelly on the jury. .... Matty OTTP5... Not conniving enough. Not lucky enough. The real Boy Scout. Sugar MORP3... .... ....... .... .... Still the sweetheart cutie, but too strategic to be OTTP. Ace never got away with making a comment without the camera showing Sugar thinking as well. Charlie INV - The guy seems hilarious! show him! Corinne UTR2 - Next time you have a great female character that you don't intend to feature at all on the show, don't hype her up pre-season. Dan MORN2 - Pre-boot edit. Marcus MORP3 - Makes Earl, Ethan and Amber look like fascinating winners. So Rah-Rah all the time... blech. Randy OTTN2 - The fact that he had so little airtime doesn't mean it wasn't OTT! He had 2 minutes of pure viciousness. And that really really hurt his chances. Susie UTR1 - Yawn. Fang Ace CPN5 - I swear he started talking in the weird accent half way through TC. Considered OTTN because of that... He's long-term. Crystal CPM5 - Too big of an edit only to explain Kelly's throw-away vote. Seems destined to meet Randy again. Probably makes it pretty far. Kelly OTTN3 - Isn't she just adorable? Kenny MOR4 - Not a character the editors invest in. Matty OTTP5 - Didn't think it was CP, despite the girlfriend talk. He was so golden - listen to the music when he runs in the IC. Sugar MORP3 - Usual sweetheart edit. Winner without a doubt: 1. Marcus Not complely eliminated, though they don't have a chance to win because Marcus does: 2. Matty 3. Randy 4. Crystal Eliminated: The others.

Kelly - MORN3: I just didn't feel like she was visible enough for an OTT, but I can see it though. I see her as something around a UTRN, CPN, and OTTN... so I gave her MORN. Ace - CPN5: Negative and complex. Bob - UTR1: A confessional. Charlie - INV1: No comment. Corinne - UTR1: A confessional. Crystal - OTTM5: I thought that she wasn't that complex, so I gave her OTT. I thought that we were supposed to feel sorry for and root against her because of the different reasons for her crying at the challenge. Dan - OTTN2: He seemed way more visible than a two, but still. He's a villian eating all of Corinne's rice. XD Ken - CP4: He did a lot of talking to other players and we got a lot of insight from him. He also got Sugar to get back her idol. I can see a MOR, but I thought he was complex enough for CP. Marcus - MOR2: Oh my gosh...do you think he'll win? XD Matty - CPP5: I thought he was really complex, especially when he was talking to Ace. But with his attitude, I think he needs a positive tone. Randy - MORN2: Negative and in the middle. A girl can hope...
