This is the one that stars the blond guy from The Devil Wears Prada with freaky eyebrows right?

(and take no offense. go to the mad men thread and see how i gush over the character of joanie.) but... simon enters the house, fixes himself a sammich and a cup of tea... looks over the contents of her cupboards, a few pictures on the fridge... and make the bold statement... "you love india, but you've never been there..." blow me simon. no reasonable viewer could get that from your intrusion into her house. and then acting all cool when gail whacks her hubby? based on the aforementioned? s-t-r-e-t-c-h ! i'll still love mad men for joan. y'all can still love this thing for simon. but let's not kid ourselves... tonight? this show was stupid... |

I enjoyed it. Great beginning scene. Was not expecting desperate housewives hubby to get blown away by his wife. Thought that their crime would be the whole
show. I'm going to keep watching for sure. I like Simon Baker. I liked his last show and was a little bummed it got canceled, but he's better in
this one. Favorite line of the show was after he tells the freak dude that if he didn't get horny watching gorefan (?) he was Britney Spears. "He
irks me. He's irksome." Looking forward to next weeks show.

I enjoyed the show. Its a little like Sherlock Holmes but with more directed visuals. They gave most of the clues to the wife's behavior but I didn't
expect her to run and get a gun to kill hubby. I was afraid Simon Baker was going to have to spend more time convincing her she was right about her
suspicions. My favorite line was "I'm the smartest guy in the room." This epi reruns Friday before NUMBERS.

"He irks me. He's irksome."My favorite line. Made me LOL. I enjoyed the show and look forward to seeing it next week. It has NOTHING to do with drooling over Simon Baker though I might be inclined to if he keeps delivering as he did in the first episode. And ugh - can't stand the Psych comparisons. Psych is dorky shit. I tried watching it and couldn't handle one whole episode. Just my opinion, but I thought it was stupid. In the one episode I saw, the dude saw one thing that led him to believe the accident wasn't an accident. Maybe I just caught the worst episode of the season, but aside from being psychic but not really - I saw no other similarities. TM played on Patrick's gift of observation through the whole show. Patrick Jane is sad/tragic, quirky, charismatic, annoying and a bit cocky. Just a bit. I liked. |

I liked the pilot that I downloaded through torrents. I also think the comparisons to PSYCH are ridiculous. Might as well compare this show to MEDIUM, if
you're gonna go there.

I watched the show and it had a few moments i liked but it left me with a feeling that I wouldn't watch it again. I'll give it another try but it was
just too forced and I didn't like the main character doing anything he wanted to get the info he was looking for. It was too unrealistic.

I liked the show, but I hope they tone down the "know-it-all" attitude of the lead - it's annoying. It actually did remind me of Psych on that count. On the other hand, I liked the other characters and how they don't like the mentalist. Also, the tension between him and the young religious woman who challenged him was promising - I hope they don't make her into a silly caricature. |

well, was wondering why this show didn't have a thread yet so glad it was started
I watched mainly for the "cutie" I wanted to know more who he was and why everyone hates him but, it's on after NCIS so will prob watch again |

It was too unrealistic. Well I'm a LOST junkie, so I've lost all concept of unrealistic. :)
bendnkrack - I like negative posts like yours. You'll give it another try but if it still isn't moving you, you simply quit watching, right? I
don't get people who feel like they have to watch something so they watch a show they don't like and continue to bitch. Dunno. My tv isn't
even on half the time.

I enjoyed the show... a lot more than I thought I would. Before the season started, I thought it would be a copy of Psych. But it's not...& yeah, Simon
Baker is a real cutie.
The only problem I have with these crime shows is I immediately know who the killer is. The husband was just too obvious & so was the Dr. Oh well, I'll still be watching : ) |

For anyone who watched this and also watches Psych, are there any differences between what this guy does and what Shawn does?

The SovereignOne wrote:Yeah. Shawn acts like a total nutjob whose getting psychic visions when he solves cases whereas Patrick Jane just says what he discovers. I enjoyed the show for sure, I'll definitely tune in next week. I really like the supporting actors too, which is necessary for a show to survive. |

^^^What role does Patrick Jane play on this show? I thought the actor's name was Simon Barker. |

The Truth Hurts wrote:EXACTLY! It's the difference between watching the Park Ranger try to figure out who stole the picnic basket and Sherlock Holmes in my opinion. Psych is going for Monk and getting Yogi and BooBoo. I think most first eps are always full of way too much so they can get it over with. I expect the coming eps to be a little less overkill and more about the stuff he notices and how he interacts with the rest of the cast. Those were the best parts of the ep in my opinion. Just camera shots of him scanning the room and noticing things. Most of them went by too fast for me to notice, but you knew he did, so in addition to seeing how he does it you still get the additional payoff of being slightly surprised at what they were and how they tied into the crime. Oh and if I want realistic I'd stop watching TV and go two blocks away and watch the crack dealers jitter on the corner. I WANT escapism fantasy TV like Lost, Fringe, Heroes and The Terminator. That's the best part of the shows. I get to suspend my drab reality and forget everything but what is playing out on my boob tube. |

FeliciaM7 wrote: ITA. I think it was a good show. Aren't most of the first epi's OTT at least just a lil bit to get people? I also like that there is a serial killer out there that he has a connection to he can't catch. This can make things interesting if they do it right. Broke my heart to see him try to go to sleep under that creepy smile face. You just know that hard assed female det wants to fuck him, just like most of us do. |
