The writing impressed me. Witty dialogue and a complicated story. I prefer this style to the supposed English major, Tarantino. Hoping they don't drag it out past its due date, but that's not gonna happen if the ratings are good.

I loved "the Guardian" and the character he played in that. this character seems totally different. but still has that "broken" quality he does so well. some really funny lines in this. but if you're looking for realism, look else where. As someone who works in law enforcement I saw at least a half dozen errors and many things each of those guys would be suspended for. for example, saying the nick name for the serial killer in front of a civillian (I think it was the next of kin)

I WANT escapism fantasy TV like Lost, Fringe, Heroes and The Terminator. That's the best part of the shows. I get to suspend my drab reality and forget everything but what is playing out on my boob tube. Right on. We have some tv in common. I just watched the three episodes of Fringe tonight on the Fox site. Dammit, it airs opposite The Mentalist so guess I'll continue watching online cuz I loved it. (did you post on the BB forum? your ID sounds familiar.. I lurked but rarely posted) eta: Jennica, I'm a total tard sometimes. What was the serial killer's nickname? I can't believe I forgot that. Torrents though are a beauteous thing. I've watched everything that started this season that I can't just catch online like Merlin, True Blood, Criminal Minds, Without a Trace etc so far. I love em! As for the serial killer are you talking about Red John? eta: Oh, yes I post in the BB forum. Come out of lurkdom next season!

Crime shows appeal to me and I figured I'd enjoy it but was pleasantly surprised with how well written it was and complicated the plot was with the twist/turns and how it came together nicely in the end. I was confused by one thing: Was that Dr. a copy cat Red John? If so, how did he know how to do the smiley face exactly the way the killer did? I doubt they released pictures of that to the press. I know he had books that talked about the killer but if he is not caught..I would think that they would withhold something like that. If he was a copycat that means that the real killer, the one that killed the lead character's family is still out there, right?

I'm sure the real killer is still out there. Patrick pointed out that the smile was on the opposite wall. That's probably part of the big onging storyline, kinda like Profiler. Patrick going to his house and getting in the bed with the smile over it made it pretty certain (to me) that Red John is still out there and will continue to haunt him.

I noticed the similarities to Profiler too (which was another show I loved) I hope they're able to keep up the humor in the writing. They're definately not trying for the technical accuracy of shows like CSI.

It shows that dark/tragic side to the character IMO. The combination of that and the charming and smartass side is what makes the character interesting. Jennica, we don't need a 4th CSI, right? Is CSI:NY still on? I caught that maybe three times in its first season. I love Gary Sinise but wasn't feeling another CSI and didn't have time for it. Profiler rocked!
