Posts: 11277 11/10/08 03:57 PM Reply Quote More Recent Posts	Ok, I can understand Tom being in the top 5, and I can maybe understand Ethan being #1 (even though I'll completely disagree), but Kim P. at #4? What? She was the main reason that Samburu was fucked over because she had to vote for Brandon after he screwed them over even when he was willing to come back. Then Kim J. at #2? What the hell? Diane doesn't get sick, and she leaves first. Jessie doesn't get sick, and she leaves second. There's no tribal swap, and she leaves if they lose a challenge. She was the fifth wheel of an alliance of 5. Then, Lex flipped out, and targetted Kelly which moved her up to the 4th wheel. She knew that she was 4th, yet she didn't do anything at the final 7 or even at the final 6 where both Tom and Lex had more votes than T-bird and Kim P. She was happy with 4th place, and then she lucked her way into the finals. I guess you can give credit to her for winning immunity challenges at the end (even though she wouldn't have won either if the producers didn't screw up fallen comrades or Ethan's camraman didn't throw up), but her being #2 is crazy especially when she had 0 chance to win even with Ethan telling Brandon to f off on his own question, she only managed two votes. And about T-bird...no she could not have joined the young group. You don't seem to realize that the mall rats had no respect for the older guys, and they completely outcasted them. The alliance was a safety precaution to assure that they'd have majority, but Silas decided to be a dumbass.

Plus it's really hard to trust somebody the next round after they hardcore backstab you like that. It's a more understandable emotional move than what Teresa and Frank did to Silas Kim J. didn't get sick and Diane and Jessie did and that's the point. Kim J. was a more fit to survive at least in Africa. Kim J. made a move at final 5, so it's not like she was a blind follower. Making a move at final 5 might have backfired on her, so I can see why she didn't make one. I think Kim J. not having a chance to win with the jury is bad luck and not really her fault, because she really didn't do that anything that much different from people who have won the game before like Vecepia, Jenna M., or Danni I'm not advocating that T-Bird should have joined the young group, but I was pointing out why that logic applies to Silas. It makes even less sense for Silas to join the old group as a 5th than Teresa since he's an alpha male. The older people had no respect for the mall rats too, especially Frank and Carl. The mall rats outcasted the older folk after they found out that the old people made an exclusive alliance against them. So there is plenty of blame to go around, but people pick on the mall rats because of the editing or maybe favortism and sympathy for older people

TBird should be first<333. It's a season where it's one trying to outdumb another, TBird was the best player for she was strong socially, strategically and physically. Ethan barely did anything and let everything lie on his social/physical game.

Silas was the guy who tried to tell them how to vote after he just backstabbed them to help the tribe out as a whole, yet he wouldn't even tell the older people who was leaving. T-bird and Frank gained standing in Boran by that move, and they would have stayed over Clarence if they had lost the final 11 challenge. Vecepia was a huge part of the power shift in Marquesas and had a solid ally that had her back the entire game while Kim had no one plus she was in the majority alliance on her original tribe which can't be said about Kim. Jenna, again, had a solid ally (who I think did much more work than her), but she was at least in the majority alliance during all three portions of the game, and she would have been at least in the final 5 no matter what had Alex not been an idiot, yet she somehow still got there due to getting close to Rob. And if you really think Kim J. and Danni are comparable, you need to rewatch Guatemala. I'm not advocating that T-Bird should have joined the young group, but I was pointing out why that logic applies to Silas. He would be in the majority alliance during the tribal stage, and at least 5 members would be able to work together come merge. He had lots of time to reposition himself if needed. Frank had no respect for the younger group, agreed, but Carl got a long somewhat which is why he was talking to them aobut his money. He felt comfortable. And again, I disagree. They can always get rid of Silas later but going against him that soon before knowing what would happen to the other tribe was very risky. They went from from 6-6 original Samburu to Boran to a merge of 4-6 original Samburu to Boran. No matter how much Silas was a bad leader, he was their original tribemate and had a weaker connection to any Boran that they had with each other. So I totally disagree with you. "Gained standing" in Boran is welcoming a chance to be their 6th and 7th add-ons, so I find that way worse than any following that Kim J. did. It makes no sense for Silas to join the older group. He's going to be in the majority no matter what (unless he's in a Hunter situation) because he's an alpha male! Alpha males need strong alliances pre-merge not settle as the bottom of the totem poles like James in China. If anyone could afford to be at the bottom of a totem pole it's the women like Linda or T-Bird who need to concentrate they're safe until the merge. The old folks started the alliances so they started it. The mall rats just made things worse

First off, they thought to ask him, which meant they at least respected Silas more than Kim P., Brandon, and Lindsey. Due to his strength, Silas could've been great for their alliance, and they would've been much more likely to stick together as a fivesome (plus, booting Lindsey instead of Carl wouldn't have hurt them as much in the challenges). But instead of guaranteeing himself a spot in a solid majority alliance, Silas decided to form an alliance that only made up half of the tribe. As a result, he put himself in a bad position had Carl beaten Lindsey in the tiebreaker challenge, the same position that Linda, Teresa, and Frank ended up in. Not only that, but he essentially guaranteed the tribe would be divided with no chance of a majority, whereas had he joined the elders, he would've been safe at three tribal councils at LEAST, and his tribe could've merged with five tightly connected players rather ensuring that a decent number of players would wind up pissed off. Plus, given how Teresa and Frank were so willing to sell him out at the swap, I'd say Silas would've fared much better had he made more than just three allies.

They asked Silas but they asked him last after those 4 were already together. Of course he's going to feel like an outsider. Silas would be in the majority anyways even if they lost the challenge, because they wouldn't get rid of him over useless Brandon or weaker Kim P. unless Silas really screwed up or they wanted revenge. Either way he's 5th. If Silas sided with the old people, the tribe would still be divided. It's practically the same thing!

He could have made a solid group of 5 (which is enough at the merge to at least force a tie), or he could make two different sides of 4 (which gives Samburu no chance at working together later down the road). Silas is also the person who fucking asked Linda, Frank, and T to vote for Lindsay without giving them anything. He wouldn't even say who was leaving. For all the people who say that Terry made the worst offer in Survivor history, go back and watch Mr. Silas Gaither. That's why I get on his case.

Posts: 14588 11/13/08 03:35 PM Reply Quote More Recent Posts	They formed a "clique" because the four of them were hard working while Brandon and Lindsey at least were lazy little shits, and they were concerned that the Mall Rats would team up against them. Silas was the swing vote because the elders actually trusted him and thought he was a decent guy, but then he betrayed them for a position he was lucky to get, and then treated them like shit. Honestly, fifth place in a five person alliance on day NINE is a lot better than risking your neck to be in an alliance of four that could get screwed over easily by an unknown tiebreaker. Especially since by joining that alliance, you could inspire unity in the tribe, rather than dividing it further.
