Anyone who is saying Obama wants otherwise is either ignorant or hysterical. And the tax rates should be fairer, where they were in the 1990s to pay off the huge and mounting debt which is both immoral and deeply deleterious to pretty much every other facet of government and life. I don't believe in the "steal from the young and give to the rich" mentality which has been ruling American politics for the past eight years replete with disasterous effects. Fiscal responsibilty is important. And the corruption of the past eight years, the waste and mis-use of taxpayers' (and future taxpayers') dollars is inexcusable. So that's why I'm voting for Barack Obama. Pretty reasonable.

You can't MAKE everybody want to achieve the same things, all you can do is provide the opportunity - i.e., the freedom - for individuals to pursue their interests. You cannot even guarantee that all the people interested in the same field will all be equally capable at it. So that means the only thing that can be attempted to equalize, is results. Hence the attempt to redistribute wealth from the successful to the unsucessful.

The only kind of equality that is possible is equality under the law, when the law is that nobody has the right to use coercion, initiate force, or commit fraud. Sometimes, as we've all seen, the law excuses some people from facing criminal charges, on account of them being rich or celebrities, somehow buying their way out of it. One law for the poor and another law for the rich. In that sense, everyone should be treated equally, right? Can we agree on that much?
