My problem with American Idol is that most of the people who audition for it are, for lack of a better description, crazier then a shithouse rat.

Now, I'm a big fan at laughing at the misfortunes of others and often wish death on those that piss me off. But with American Idol, it seems somehow wrong.

Some of the people that get rejected in these auditions are not insane and thus kicking them while they're down is good sport. They're talentless cultural pollutants who should be curb stomped with sharpened cleets. I'm talking about spoiled rich bitches who have been told by everyone that they are a fucking god at singing when in truth they couldn't carry a tune if they had gotten their vocal cords transplanted from Elvis himself.

But then they send in some people who are more then talentless. They are clearly mentally ill and are beyond just being egotistical. They're delusional, obsessed, and dangerous, if not to others then to themselves. These people should never be put through to the judges to face a thrashing from Simon Cowell or Randy Jackson. They should especially not be put on TV for everyone else to make fun of. And yet every episode of every audition round, you end up with people who are clearly nuttier then squirrel heaven being thrown to the wolves behind the judges table for the sole purpose of being the laughing stock of the entire country. Then they really rub it in with cheesy music, mocking cuts, and that smarmy cunt Ryan Seacrest. It's disgraceful.

Imagine if they made a reality show where people lined up to shout obscenities and mock children getting off the short bus at school. It would be a national outrage. The FCC would shut down the entire network that aired it, and every producer involved in the show would be blacklisted from Hollywood.

And yet that's exactly what American Idol does. Yes, the egotistical should be destroyed. But not the mentally ill. These aren't people going for their fifteen minutes, intentionally bombing just to get attention. These are people in dire need of help. And when stuff like this happens, it stops being funny. On American Idol, they've mocked people who claim to hear voices in their heads, people who hold their throats for fear of somehow breaking their larynx, guys dancing with legs so skinny you can tell they've been doing about fifty barrels full of crystal meth... this is not fucking funny.

Not that Fox will ever quit airing this shit. They've proven many, many times that they have no shame at all when it comes to their programming. The only real thing that's going to stop this shit is the stars of the show, the judges themselves, throwing their hands up and saying that this is wrong.

This girl might have signed a waiver... but you know what? She was fucking nuts. She clearly was not mentally competent to sign onto this show and understand the full ramifications of what being mocked nationwide on the most popular show on television were. For this, I say this death is squarely on the hands of Fox Broadcasting and all the producers of American Idol. No, they shouldn't be expected to babysit every loser that is rejected on the show, but they don't have to serve up the mentally unstable for the pit vipers that are the type of people who watch Fox.
