Let me recap: Spoiler [+] -Girl and vampire spend the first half hour of the movie staring at each other. And not loving i-want-you stares. Just creepy stalker staring. And don't bother to ever talk to each other. - The imagery looks like it was done by a first-year art school student. Really bad. -The dialogue sounds like it was written by a preteen girl. "Are you afraid?" "I'm only afraid of sob losing you"......"You're like a drug to me...like my own personal heroin." Gag. -Alleged badass super-vampire that they spend the last hour of the movie running from gets his ass kicked in minutes. -Mother who gets kidnapped by alleged badass vampire seems to have forgotten this fact by the end. This is never explained. Basically it follows the old shitty format: -I just met you but I'm madly in love with you anyway. -Oh no, we can't be together we're just too different. -Oh wait, we can be together after all. -End. I don't know how to make spoiler tags so hopefully it worked.

Spoiler [+] She wasn't kidnapped. James just found a video tape in Bella's house and used that to trick and lure Bella to the ballet studio. I loved the books and liked the movie. I thought it was an excellent adapation, keeping the important parts, losing the unimportant parts, and most importantly, condensing it appropriately. Stephenie Meyer could use a lesson in condensing. My major gripe was the use of extreme close-up shots. I had seen test footage from filming back in April, and I felt like they lost some of the magic by going too tight.
