Statement as of 4:51 AM CST on January 09, 2009 ... Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 6 am CST Saturday... A Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect until 6 am CST Saturday. A period of accumulating snow can be expected this morning across northeast Illinois and Northwest Indiana... before tapering to occasional light snow or flurries later this morning and this afternoon. Snow will increase in coverage and intensity again tonight... with additional accumulation likely before tapering off early Saturday morning. Total accumulation by early Saturday is expected to range from 3 to 5 inches across the southern suburbs of Chicago and across lake and Porter counties of Northwest Indiana... to 5 to 9 inches across the northern suburbs. A Winter Weather Advisory for snow means that accumulating snow will cause primarily travel difficulties. Be prepared for snow covered roads and limited visibilities... and use caution while driving.

Doesn't seem like the snow is ever going to end. It started at noon yesterday, there was a lull around 6pm yesterday and it started again overnight. We still have a Winter Storm Warning until 10pm.

Was out in Chicagoland this weekend and we didn't leave the house - got about 4 inches at my friends house. I flew back to Detroit today and we have 9 inches at my house. UGH!

I shoveled snow for the 13th time this season yesterday. In fact, I had to shovel twice yesterday. I hate living here in Chicagoland. At least I'm going to Vegas in two weeks for six days of kinda warm.

Statement as of 4:21 AM CST on January 12, 2009 ... Winter Weather Advisory in effect from 3 PM this afternoon to midnight CST tonight... ... Blizzard watch in effect from late tonight through Tuesday morning... The National Weather Service in Chicago has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for snow... which is in effect from 3 PM this afternoon to midnight CST tonight. A blizzard watch has also been issued. This blizzard watch is in effect from late tonight through Tuesday morning. Snow is expected to develop mid to late afternoon and continue tonight. Storm total snowfall accumulations by early Tuesday morning of 2 to 5 inches are expected... with the greater accumulations across far northern Illinois closer to the Wisconsin Stateline. Northwest winds will strengthen overnight to 20 to 30 mph with frequent gusts to 35 mph. The combination of fresh snow cover... continued light snow overnight... and strong gusty winds will lead to blizzard or near blizzard conditions and dangerous travel conditions... with widespread visibilities of one quarter of a mile or less. Travel will become extremely dangerous and may become nearly impossible late tonight into early Tuesday morning. Winds will begin to diminish in speed toward midday Tuesday. In addition... Arctic air moving into northern Illinois and Northwest Indiana behind this system will also produce wind chills of 15 below to 20 below late tonight into Tuesday morning. A Winter Weather Advisory for snow means that accumulating snow will cause primarily travel difficulties. Be prepared for snow covered roads and limited visibilities... and use caution while driving. A blizzard watch means there is a potential for falling and/or blowing snow with strong winds and extremely poor visibilities. This can lead to whiteout conditions and make travel very dangerous.
