-5 F this morning. It's a heatwave!
I love the crunch of snow under my boots, and the clean cold air that dries up your sinuses in less than 6 seconds. |

For Petes Sake 13 wrote:Ha ha ha! Actually, given the Cubs' ineptitude once the postseason and, in most years, September, start, that's a reason TO move! Forecast is calling for 1-2 inches of snow and then tomorrow we're not supposed to warm up to zero -- Weather Channel says -1. It looks like it's going to snow enough that I have to go move my car off the snow route AGAIN. I am really, REALLY hating the CTA for moving the bus route that used to go down my street just so the college kids and yuppies in the condos and townhouses over by UIC, who already were close to a bus line taking them to two L lines, wouldn't have to walk a couple of blocks to get to one taking them to two more while people in my neighborhood (quite a few of them factory workers and elderly people) now have to walk up to 4-5 blocks to get to any bus at all.

The newscasters and radio people in Chicago are seriously pissing me off.
Last night's news someone said "It will be brutal for the next few days, stay inside and make sure you are stocked up with food and water." A DJ on the radio this morning said "This has been a loooooooong miserable winter and it looks like there is more to come." Really? It is January in Chicago -- deal with it. I would also like all drivers to learn how to not freak out when there is a dusting of snow coming down and it is cold out, put your foot on the gas pedal and drive. My normal 10 minute drive took 45 minutes this morning -- MORONS |

Geez, isn't this just par for the course in Chicago? Even here in NH it makes me laugh to hear all the stupidness on the news. If I was worried about the
cold I would've moved to FL, not here.

Oh we have plenty of accidents but nobody drives faster than 20 mph -- it annoys me to no end. It snows in Chicago, we've had snow since Thanksgiving,
people should have figured out how to drive in the stuff by now.
And yes Gina this is par for the course (although truth be told this is the coldest/snowiest winter in a decade). I've taken to throwing things at the TV when the weathermen are on. My BIL is friends with one of the TV weathermen. I called my BIL today and told him to call up this guy and tell him to stop being such a whiny crybaby -- it is winter, it is cold, it is snowy. We're in Chicago, this should not be news or reason to panic. |

We had the -40C weather in Mid December.
This is gorgeous now. I may go for a snowshoe on Sat and ski Sun and Mon. |

It never really gets cold on the Island. We had some snow, a lot actually, but it is all gone now and the rain has started again.
I hate the damp more than I hate the cold. |
