Ghostlight Records has confirmed the April 19th (digital) and May 10th (physical) release of the Original Broadway Cast Recording of Lincoln Center Theater's production of WOMEN ON THE VERGE OF A NERVOUS BREAKDOWN, featuring book by Jeffrey Lane, and music and lyrics by David Yazbek.
The OCR includes a 40-page full-color booklet featuring an essay by Pedro Almodovar, liner notes by the renowned Frank Rich, and even a recipe for gazpacho by NY Times writer Mark Bittman. Rich comments: "Listen to Yazbek's haunting score, and you'll start to understand why the show has legs. Its blend of Latin and pop owes more to the Almodovar/Madrid spirit - and to the romantic soundtracks of vintage Hollywood - than it does to other Broadway musicals. The music and lyrics alike delve to the core of Almodóvar's signature characters."
The CD features de'Adre Aziza, Laura Benanti, Danny Burstein, Justin Guarini, Nikka Graff Lanzarone, Patti LuPone, Brian Stokes Mitchell, Mary Beth Peil and Sherie Rene Scott, and was produced by Dean Sharenow and David Yazbek, with Kurt Deutsch serving as Executive Producer. The album was recorded on January 19th at MSR Studios in New York. Hear samples, pre-order the CD and learn more here: http://sh-k-boom.com/womenontheverge.shtml
Based on Pedro Almodóvar's internationally acclaimed 1988 film, Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown is set in late 20th-century Madrid and tells the story of the intertwining lives of a group of women (Sherie Rene Scott, de'Adre Aziza, Laura Benanti, Nikka Graff Lanzarone, Patti LuPone) whose relationships with men lead to a tumultuous 48 hours of love, confusion and passion. Featuring book by Jeffrey Lane, music and lyrics by David Yazbek and direction by Bartlett Sher, the production ended its limited engagement run on Sunday, January 2 at the Belasco Theatre.

More about the film and the Lincoln Center Theater production:When Pedro Almodóvar arrived in town in 1988 to show his new film at the New York Film Festival he became an instant sensation. Channeling the burst of energy and freedom in post-Franco Spain, Women on the Verge of a Nervous Breakdown was one of the most unusual and exhilarating new films in years. It was nominated for the Oscar for Best Foreign Film, and quickly became not just a classic, but a favorite. WOMEN ON THE VERGE OF A NERVOUS BREAKDOWN is a new musical based on the film. Lincoln Center Theater's Resident Director, Bartlett Sher, still happily reeling from his achievement on South Pacific, leads the extraordinary collaborators Jeffrey Lane (book) and David Yazbek (music and lyrics). Lane and Yazbek, the team behind Dirty Rotten Scoundrels, have taken Almodóvar's tale and infused it with their own wry, comic style and an irresistible Spanish beat. Both touching and hilarious, it's a story about women and the men who pursue them... finding them, losing them, needing them, and rejecting them. At the center is Pepa (Sherie Rene Scott) whose friends and lovers are blazing a trail through 1980s Madrid. And why do they all keep showing up at her high-rise apartment? Gazpacho anyone? Along with Pepa, there's her missing (possibly philandering) lover, Ivan (Brian Stokes Mitchell); his ex-wife of questionable sanity, Lucia (Patti LuPone); their son Carlos (Justin Guarini); Pepa's friend, Candela (Laura Benanti), and her terrorist boyfriend; a power-suited lawyer (de'Adre Aziza) plus a taxi driver (Danny Burstein) who dispenses tissues, mints and advice in equal proportion. Mayhem and comic madness abound, balanced by the empathy and heart that are trademarks of Almodóvar's work. And of Bartlett Sher's too.

I have no idea what you're talking about regarding long rants on MSN. I ran a message board there (with others) for Justin, but I recall we tried to keep it about Justin. You and I both know you are straight up full of shit since your MSN postings about Kelly went on and on and on. If you actully can't remember them then at least it would help to explain your bizarre rants. You're mentally deficient.True, Yelly's creepy little fans spammed all Justin's fans out of the chat room every night and every weekend so only discussions about yelly in HIS chat room could take place, and they spammed his boards and all the threads on a daily basis with Yelly pics so that his fans couldn't carry on a conversation about what he was up to, but his fans kept it about him. I have no idea what you're talking about. Most of the time I spent there was cleaning up the crap Yelly fans left behind every day during their spamfests. More lies. As you said, you ran that message board. And you banned any Justin fan that ever said anything postive about Kelly. You insisted that any postings about her be full of hate or be deleted. You wouldn't allow anyone to like both Justin and Kelly at the World. You also took your ass over to the Kelly boards and tried to start shit.
Where has Justin been? Its called working. In his case, he has worked non-stop in the biz for 10 years now. You should try working some time, instead of being bitter about Yelbel. So? You keep trying to diminish what Kelly has accomplished. He hasn't worked any harder and hasn't accomplished half of what she has so if you want Justin to be respected you need to learn how to show some yourself for people who have done even more. I 'm very happy with Kelly's career. It's better than I had imagined it would be. It's amazing actually. I certainly wouldn't trade it for Justin's. Why do you get back to work instead of repeated posting of the same Justin news over and over, you busy busy lawyer, you.
And if you ever supported Justin (you surely aren't now, are you?) you were the ONLY Yelly fan who did, on the KCE, at least. Or are you that fake chick Icy who posted all that hate about him every day and all prefaced with ... "I like Justin BUT ...." Skanky. Really.Justin doesn't put out any music to support these days.LOL, I actually forgot that Icy chick used to hate him so much. She might have been at your level of Kelly hate, except she didn't make long rants that went on for years. I'm sure she has forgotten about him by now, but you're still getting your Kelly hate on all these years later. And there is actually a Justin lovefest going on in one of the main threads on KCE right now. You are a bitter tard that needs to make up crap to explain away the truth because the world doesn't make things the way you want them to be.

She is SUCH a victim - of me, of her record company and her management teams, AI and others, her producers, and songwriters, Clive, why just everyone who is always always always against her. Sad! I'm crying right now for her. I' so mad I'm pounding on the desk with the unfairness of it ALL. Poor sad Yelly, booo f*ing hoooooooooo. (except not, duh).Yes, you're a typical Yelly fan who says she LOVES Justin. Well, just enough to tear him down, treat him like he's dirt under your fat girl's feet, and then DEMAND everyone cry for Yelly for no reason at all..Boo ..... hoo. Now go away, t/y. You win. GO Yelly fans, go! I'm with ya! He's scum, he's shit! Kelly is perfection in every way.
It is really the saddest thing, how everyone is against this girl! I
feel sooooooooooo soooooo sorry for her, she has had it so HARD.
C'mon all you meanies who don't love every inch of that fat arse, sob along with me for sad forlorn Yelbel.

But of course you were living under a rock all these years and don't remember. Nope, I didn't attack Justin. And here you are making Justin the victim of everyone you can think of. It's sad that you hold his talent in such low regard that apparently no one could recognize it but you. You are so emotionally underdeveloped that you have to convince yourself that everyone but a few straggling Justin fans hated him for no reason whatsoever, rather than support him. Justin made the mistake of listening to the wrong people who were giving him bad career advice right out of the gate. Mistakes happen in life, but the entities that were trying to make money off of him did not set out to destroy him. That's just a pathetic excuse on your part.
So let me understand this, YOU are going to make it alllllllll right now, by trashing Justin some MORE, and trashing me some more ad infinitum and forever. Neato!!!!
'Cause that's new. (rolls eyes). Nope, for once, I am going to respond to the bullshit you make up. That IS new and you'll just have to deal with it if you want to keep blaming an innocent person for your obvious unhappiness about Justin's career path.
Have at it. You're experienced at it, its what you've been doing to Justin, his fans, and other idols and their fans for years: Throwing your trash around and kicking the unfortunate while their down. It's a Kelly fan specialty after all. You go grl.Nope, that's your MO. Getting your hate on. I would give you a taste of your own medicine by hating on Justin, but that's not my thing. I just prefer to call you out. So YOU have at it. You're not in your little Justin World sanctuary now.
