It sucks that TAR seasons almost always start well and then crash into the shitter.
And it does it yet again. |

It was bad compared to the first classic seasons, but it was a lot better than the most recent seasons

I thought it was pretty flat, too. The only truly memorable ep was the colored powder fight in India.
And this finale blew chunks. Had Dandrew gotten a better cab, even they would've had a chance of winning. |

Bad casting knocked this season from the start. They tried their best to rev up all the familiar cliches (smug frat boys, bitchy/polarizing all-female team,
couples in trouble, competitive siblings), and most of it didn't work.
Based on the earlier episodes this season, which focused on a slew of unpleasant people feuding and sneering, I thought it was going to end up even worse. My only regret about this season - aside from the bad casting - is that Terence and Sarah left as early as they did. Once they stopped all the pettiness with other teams, they became much more interesting to watch. |

This was the first time I didn't care who won.
There were no real likable teams, and no teams to hate. Plus, the tasks didn't seem fresh- if that's the right word. The ho li leg was good, as someone pointed out, but that's about it. Could better casting have done it? Or is the magic of the Amazing Race over? |

I wasn't crazy about any of the final 3 teams, but I think the editors did a decent job of trying to cobble together a suspenseful finale when the outcome
was never really in doubt (and Dandrew lagged far behind the other two teams).
I think the casting was very lazy - the generic blondes, the Hippies, the Frat Boys, etc. All in all, a decent season but nowhere near one of TAR's best. I'm encouraged by the early reports of TAR 14. There seems to be a few interesting teams already, and hopefully the outcome will be less predictable. |

This was pretty much another all-white, all-generic season (okay Aja & Ty were supposed to represent all minorities in the country

Uninspired finale. Nick/Starr no surprise. The Spanglers... groan.

I thought the finale wasn't that bad! But then I went into the finale expecting Dandrew to win and was excited when they started out with a horrible cab,
and then everything from then on made me happy :)
This was the first time since TAR9 that the winning team was someone that I didn't outright despise. I hated Nick & Starr at the beginning, but later on I realized that there was no reason for me to dislike them at all other than they're numerous victories which is dumb. But at least they were deserving winners and were ultra-competitive. And I always loved Ken & Tina from the start and rooted for them to win, but really I just wanted anyone other than Dandrew to win, and that happened :) |

It's not the finale (which I didn't bother to watch). It was a bad season because you could pick out two of the three final teams within 15 minutes of
the first episode.

And pretty much from the Cambodia leg and on, the excess focus on them and basically turning TAR13 into The Spangler Show hinted to me that they'd probably win. And they did. |

And at the very least we have winners who earned it rather than ones who were lucky enough to pick a cab with EZ-Pass. |

This season was meh but it wasn't ugly - TAR10 had all the Back Pack issues and the BQs unnecessary bitchiness, TAR11 had Eric/Danielle's wrath towards
the Guidos and BQs which were all much worse.
There's never been so much cannon-fodder on the show - TAR12 really only had two no-hoper teams (Kate/Pat and Marianna/Julia) but TAR13 had about seven. The predictabiity is killer: if it weren't for TK/Rachel getting lost on the way to the pitstop, three of the last four winners would have finished first on the first leg |

I blame the most sour puss ever to appear on reality TV -- Tina, the woman of a thousand ugly facial expressions.
