So, why do they even try to make it suspenseful? |

I haven't seen every season, but the ones I've watched, every time when it comes to near the end, the team that appears to be ahead is the one that
always wins. Why did they even try to make it like Ken and Tina might have gotten there first?

The only season with a truly suspenseful end was season 9.. with the way the past few seasons have ended, it's not even possible to fake suspense.

You're forgetting season 2. |

Duh... completely forgot season 2.
I think it works better when they have a task at the finish line though... when it's just "drive to the finish line and win," it's never difficult to guess who wins. |

Whoever got the taxi first won!
The editing could fool us by showing Tina/Ken getting taxi first......would be more surprise...but then..oh well...whatever...I love the ending, lol |

I think Ken/Tina were only 4 or 5 minutes behind Nick/Starr, this finish was very close.

In season 8 the Bransons' and Lynzs' were doing the final map task at the same time. The pitstop was only about 500 yards from final task. The Lynzs
only won by less than 5 minutes. They had no idea this was the final task until they finished the puzzle and got their clue.

Who said this was the best TAR ever- or at least the finish was. Phil?

TAR2, TAR8, TAR9 were the most suspenseful finales because they were suspenseful right up to the finish line, that's why I too think the final task (Road
Block or otherwise) should be right before the finish line. Taxi rides to the finish line (except for TAR2) have always been predictable as soon as the first
team leaves the final task.

In TAR5's 1st Philippines leg, Chip/Kim were behind the Bowling Moms and Brandon/Nicole. I assumed it would use the conventional editing, which meant that
Brandon/Nicole would get first and the Moms would get second. However, Chip/Kim appeared out of nowhere (literally) to take first. This is the only time where
I was completely shocked with who got first.

Aw, that makes me nostalgic for the best days of this show. Too bad Brandon/Nicole beat out the Bowling Moms for F3.

Terence/Sarah going from 8th to 3rd in a single taxi-ride was pretty WTF too. Unfortunately those kind of shocks rarely happen in the finale.

But Sarahgoddess already answeredthat when I asked her. And another addition was with that of Kynt & Vyxsin and Nate & Jen's battle for the U-TURN. That was literally a nailbiter. |

I think it was edited to be suspenseful. I played the mat runs over several times and the shade on the left side of the screen was significantly further over
from the sun when the 2nd team hit the mat. So I think it was more than several minutes between team arrivals, perhaps as much as a half hour. Then when the
hapless frat bros came to the mat, the shade was all the way across the stage at that point. I think those idiots were at least 2 or 3 hours behind the first
2 arrivals.

I agree that it may have been more suspenseful to have that "find 10 clues" task at the finish line. At the very least, all finales should have a
puzzle.

Season 1 ending with the awesome background music and Frank & Margarita thinking they had won = BEST ending, even if not suspenseful.
