Remove this ad Every "season" the show evolves and you add more and more shit and its hardly the Survivor people remebered and actually watched because they "liked" it and NOT because it was "there" 1. DITCH THE HIDDEN IMMUNITY IDOL. 2. REDUCE THE "MACTOR" RATIO - (I know its hard going through Millions of applications but REAL people are more interesting when they are breaking down and starving. 3. STOP EXILE ISLAND. Serves NO PURPOSE. 4. STOP GIVING SO MUCH FOOD AS A REWARD. (Looks like Contestants are gaining weight now. How is that SURVIVING? Make em eat RATS 5. STOP WITH THE SET-UP SHOOTS AND RETAKES. (Nothing SCREAMS Phoney like. "Oooooooh an elephant" and "Will you marry me?" 6. STOP SWITCHING TRIBES EVERY FEW DAYS. (Screws with alliances and the Players ability to actually play the game. And this is basically the reason the most underserving make it to the end.) 7. NEVER and I MEAN NEVER BRING BACK BOOTED PLAYERS OT BOYS vs. GIRLS AGAIN. 8. STOP STEREOTYPING. (You know you do it. Can the Gay Guys be any Gayer? Can the African Americans be more Hood? Can the Asians be more insrutible. It's beginning to show now.) Just bring it back to Basics guys. You know this run can't last forever right?

And the changes every season doesn't make it interesting to me now. Just pisses me off. I had an epiphany watching last nights show(well, I had it earlier, but the finale confirmed it): I don't care about stratagy anymore. It has its place certainly, but I really don't care about anyone "playing a good game" anymore. We're all going to have to choose sides one way or the other. Is Survivor a social experiment, and primarily about the castaways "story", or is it about the abstract quantity called "the game". I just rewatched Season 3, those guys were STARVING literally and completely drained and depleted by the last few days.

"You guys get no food, have fun," was a great way to start what would proceed to be an awesome season. And the no fire twist certainly helped (good thing both tribes knew what they were doing lol). China was apparently a pretty rough environment (it rained... a lot. And Zhan Hu's camp flooded, that was epic), but some, (like CI) have been way too easy. Also, I'm okay with maybe one or two hidden idols that everyone has an equal shot at finding, but the "let's keep replanting the idol" thing is really, really dumb. And tribe swaps have been part of the game since Africa. And the typecasting thing was done a little, but not a lot in the early seasons (brandon from Africa was about as flaming as they get). I'm okay with there being a stereotypic person or two here or there, but when EVERY SINGLE PERSON is some sort of a stereotype, it gets really boring (just look at the most recently cast gay guys: Charlie, Chet, Todd, Brad, Rafe, and compare them to the early ones: Rich, Brandon, John. John and Rich are by far the two least stereotypical, it isn't even close).

Both Koror winning every immunity challenge and Pagong/Tagi winning every other immunity were super interesting. You wanted to see if Koror would ever lose. You wanted to see if Tagi or Pagong would win two in a row. At least I did. I totally agree with basically removing the mactor factor and having an entire cast of people who took the time to create their applications. When people who absolutely want to be on the show are there... it makes the show more interesting because everyone's there to win. None of the "recruits" are there to enhance their career or get extra exposure or just create drama for ratings to make an episode more fun. I think going back to the original Survivor format (Borneo and Australian Outback) where there weren't any twists would be a twist in itself. Everyone would be expecting twists and turns and swaps and merges and demerges and remerges and Hidden Idols and Exile Islands and the ability to give away immunity. It would drive so many players crazy because they'd be thinking of how to get ahead far too much. If it was a simple game, I think it'd be entertaining to see how people react to the fact that there are no twists to the game they've seen evolve. Stereotyping everyone is annoying, but I doubt they'll turn away from it. It's so easy to find the flamer, ghetto-thug, crazy black girl, dumb white-trash boy and girl, and so on, that it's basically effortless during the casting process. I think a season of anti-stereotypes (which is SUPER hard to find) would be interesting. They've had anti-stereotypes of every stereotype throughout all 17 seasons, so I don't think it'd be TOO hard to find them. I honestly think, even though it's viewer base is on a continuously slow decline, if Survivor were to revert back to its original concept, it make peak interest in people who lost interest, or even new fans.

We've seen that already in Borneo and Outback and while the pre-merge makes for great character interaction it yields a horrible post-merge that will always be a pagonging. Why? Because the 2 tribes would've spent so much time together and so much time as rival tribes that there's a snowball's chance in hell for any possibility of inter-tribal relationships. Even if there is a tribal switch Pagonging still happens (Africa, China), what more if there wasn't any? Other than that, yeah get rid of Exile Island it was a big social experiment that failed. They should've taken China's kidnapping thing instead if they really wanna keep the whole HII thing (which I detest).

The one where Probst would tell the survivors a story and they'd have to answer questions. I always liked that one... especially from Borneo (Rudy: "I dunno..." on every question! HILARIOUS! <3). It's also cool to be able to learn a little about the places we're watching the show take place. I loved hearing about Australia's history. I loved hearing about the creepy things going on at Tribal Council during Borneo (still creeped out to this day...) I also loved the one Borneo challenge (or maybe it was another season - or maybe I'm making it up and it was on a different show... but I'm almost certain it was Borneo...) where they had to run back and forth searching for items throughout the abandoned house. Also disappointed in the Final Immunity Challenge this season. Unique, yes. However, I'm always a fan of the grueling endurance challenges that last for 10+ hours. I'm also a fan of the "Question/Answer" challenge in some of the seasons when it was super late in the season and the survivors' minds were going downhill. Not sure why, I just loved watching the internal struggle of people "knowing" the answer but writing down the wrong one. -- To me, there aren't enough completely mental challenges anymore. They're all mostly physical - or a physical/mental combination (like running through a maze, getting puzzle pieces, and putting together a Gabonese puzzle hut).
