Sugar had an original media whore strategy.I didn't notice it on the show, so Sugar's "I played to get a good edit and never to win" revelation has shaken my fandom to it's core. She is firmly OFF my top five survivor women list for that bullshit. TAKE THAT SUGAR.To be fair, many people have played with that mentality. A huge chunk of the Outback cast for example. But this is the first time in a long time where someone got to the finals by playing that way.
1) We've seen the "we're the good people" ideology used by masterminds like Tina Wesson and Maggie on BB, to help their own game and encourage loyal.
2) We've seen Elisabeth and others try to be the sweetheart by playing "nice girl" and not backstabbing, etc. But now days that act usually results in an UTR edit. Like Becky who wanted to be a Korean role model.
3) The best strategy to get airtime is to play the villian, like Fairplay or Corinne. Play hard, give outrageous confessionals, etc.
Sugar has done something else entirely. She has played to be the sweetheart, not by being "nice girl" but by getting the goat of the wannabe villians and acting as America's Player for guys she thinks the public will like. So she gets airtime, she entertains, and the public cheers when she helps Matty and Bob.
Only thing is, Sugar messed up in 2 respects. She got herself an OTTN edit in the Randy boot episode (oops Probst kinda liked Randy), which may have cost her the Sprint $100,000. And Susie won Final IC, embarrssing Sugar when she lost 3 votes not to the hero guys, but to a UTR player that wasn't well liked.
