SHC and MikiBoi, I appreciate your comments. You seem to be voicing a lot of what my main fears are - that the talent is definitely there in Theo's case, but there are so many other influences that can make things extremely difficult. Others obviously see (hear?) the talent too. One of the DJs on Chum-FM had an interesting comment when introducing "Christmas Dream" on the Top 5 @ 5 Thursday night. Richie Favalero said before the song that Idol had been cancelled "but thank God we got Theo Tams when we did". And SHC, I wouldn't have a problem with him having a career that wasn't exactly Top 40...think along the lines of Michael Buble or such. He's very successful without particularly capturning the teen demographic overall and with minimal Top 40 play. So it's not impossible for a Canadian artist to have a career like that. I just meant that I think it could be a long battle, but I think if any Idol winner has been up for it, Theo certainly is. He's being forced to travel a different path than former winners (CD released later, no season of CI following his), so who knows? It could work in his favour (with a decent single, he could be distanced from the "Idol" label stereotype) or against him (out of sight, out of mind). It's a new road, a new path, so who knows what lies along it? I do know he is nervous about how the CI "hiatus" can affect his future (I asked him), as am I. But thank you for your candid and honest opinions. I most definitely DO appreciate hearing what you have to say.
