Disappointed to see some of the drops (esp. Jake and Sally) but pleased by some of the gains (Rob M and Sean).

So overall it looks like people really voted according to personality and impact on the game wether they like the castaways or not.
The nice but passive people have all had a big drop (Jake, Jan, Jenn, Tanya, Darrah, Sally)

It's mostly major male characters who went up, many of whom were absurdly low in CR's poll. I can only conclude that Penner fans were poorly represented in LTS last June when we got to Cook islands. One weird exception is Rupert whose ranking actually dropped.

CR always urged people to vote according to "likeability at the time" which led to weird results like Jenna being rated lower for winning Amazon than for quitting ASS. Usually people's judgments after time passes are fairer to great characters like Richard, Jerri, etc (mostly hated back in the day). And CR pushed "likeability at the time" hardest when we did Amazon because he wanted to see Christy beat Jenna.

CR's method of doing 2 seasons per week led to certain pairs (S1 and S2) being rated to different standards than others (S13 and S14). Not surprised that Outback went down and Cooks went up in the new poll. On the other hand, doing 295 at once probably lead to decent second-tier charcters from S3-S7 (Tetresa and Gina for example) being downgraded compared to similar charcters of recent vintage.

If it's not too much work, could you use Excel to give us a Combined Results Ranking with averaged scores.

In case you didn't notice, Agent also wanted people to rate as "likability at the time" for ASS contestants. Jenna placed absurdly high in Amazon for both polls. And in case you didn't notice, only 2 percent separated her Amazon score between both polls. And sorry, wrong again, Christy will beat Jenna 9/10 times purely for Amazon (all stars and beyond is another story), so I definitely was not worried about that ... more like I was worried that people were rating Jenna based on post-S6, because we all know she would place very low had it been solely for amazon.

The same goes for Richard Hatch and Jerri if people put themselves back into 2000\01 fan made. The were loathed at the time compared to mediocre characters like JLew and Rodger, but in retrospect people realize they made ithe season (changes in reputation have only a little to do with ASS performace). And as time passes, many realize they were tricked by MB\JP into liking characters like Elisabeth and have revised their views. Same with Sugar in Gabon.

If you insist on evaluating Jenna in Spring 2003 fan mode and putting her below Matt and Butch, just make sure you're consistent and do it for the earliest seasons too Where Richard was the bad guy for, horrors, making an alliance. And remember that Eliza started with 3 Negative epsiodes and Chad beat her and Ami in your Vanuatu poll back in the day.

Trivia Time:

3 contestants ranked the same in both polls: S8 Richard (54th), S15 Erik (129th), S6 Alex (215th).
Nobody got the same score in both polls - closest was S4 Gabriel (CR 4.698 160th place; A24 4.702 168th place)

The median place contestants were:
CR poll: S10 Tom with a score of 4.850
A24 poll: S17 Michelle with a score of 4.866

Funny that one is a winner, one is a first boot. In both polls, the median score was less than the average score.

Whereas the huge characters all improved significantly (Judd, Jonathan, Mariano, Fairplay, Jerri, Sue, etc.) and this despite the fact they they have plenty of haters.

That's why this is a good poll. The people should be ranked based on whether or not they make good TV. Each season needs a few characters to hate (eg. Corinne, Randy). An entirely likeable cast makes for a boring season. That's why I'm a bit concerned about Tocantins since Probst said that there were so many likeable characters. I hope it's not like the Final 7 of Survivor Australia (the last few episodes, except for the flood, were a snooze).

I completely disagree that you need unlikable people in a season. I like to root for different individuals and not feel cornered into rooting for the least despicable individuals. Drama is good but manufactured stuff created by OTT characters just doesn't resonate with me personally

The same goes for Richard Hatch and Jerri if people put themselves back into 2000\01 fan made. The were loathed at the time compared to mediocre characters like JLew and Rodger, but in retrospect people realize they made ithe season (changes in reputation have only a little to do with ASS performace). And as time passes, many realize they were tricked by MB\JP into liking characters like Elisabeth and have revised their views. Same with Sugar in Gabon.

If you insist on evaluating Jenna in Spring 2003 fan mode and putting her below Matt and Butch, just make sure you're consistent and do it for the earliest seasons too Where Richard was the bad guy for, horrors, making an alliance. And remember that Eliza started with 3 Negative epsiodes and Chad beat her and Ami in your Vanuatu poll back in the day.

Who said I wasn't concerned about Richard/Jerri? Of course I was. And Eliza/Ami made a comeback by the end of Vanuatu in the polls, as far as I remember. I remember Eliza was in the 30's early on and ended up rocketing by the finale.

I never said that the entire cast needs to be unlikeable. Most of the very memorable reality show contestants (eg. Omarosa, Fairplay) have been unlikeable. The average likeable contestant tends to be nice but bland (eg. Rodger from Outback). An entire cast of nice people would be less interesting than watching Leave It To Beaver (which at least had Eddie Haskell). The more memorable likeable Survivor contestants (at least as rated so by the average viewer such as Rupert, James and Yau-man have been very OTT as well.

You can be nice and interesting, not just nice and bland. People like Rudy, Rodger, etc. were good, hard-working guys and weren't boring. I am not that impressed by loud folk and don't find them especially entertaining automatically. You can also be nice but be controversial and that is much more interesting to me

Whereas the huge characters all improved significantly (Judd, Jonathan, Mariano, Fairplay, Jerri, Sue, etc.) and this despite the fact they they have plenty of haters.

WD, you need to stop deluding yourself that Jonathan was a big character. He had a tiny fan base that whored him out across the board, but he was a relatively minor character in the scheme of things.

Unfortunately, the casual viewer that makes up over 90% of Survivor viewers (that bring in ratings) don't watch the show in depth and are more impressed by OTT characters. Marquesas is loved by most here but when I talk to people who are fans but not obsessed with the show, many of them don't like the season because of the bland Final 2.

You're right, you're right.

He obviously could not compete with the likes of Becky, Sundra, Adam, Jenny, Cristina, Nate, Sekou, Stephannie, Cecilia, Rebecca, JP and Brad in terms of entertainment.

If they ever do some kind of season where regular people compete against past Survivor favorites, he has no chance at all of being picked
