I'd heard Mellow Yellow and Happiness Runs, and There is a Mountain was on that car commercial, but there's so much other good stuff on his greatest hits: Colours, Universal Soldier, Riki Tiki Tavi, Baragajagal, and Jennifer Juniper.

Why did I just find out about DONOVAN?! |

Seriously. I love folk music and I'm on Pandora pretty often, so I have no idea why it took me this long to discover this guy.

I really don't know.
Please tell me that you know who Joan Baez is. Murray is ashamed at your lack of musical knowledge. |

Oh of course I know Joan! She's alright. I found out about her through my Joni Mitchell Pandora station I think.
Murray doesn't know much about music either. Bret: Michael Jackson's Off The Wall. Murray: I'll say. Guy's crazy. Off the planet! Isn't he? |

I kind of have a crush on Murray.
If you are not a bob dylan fan, I am revoking your folk card. |

Well that's a given. I kinda regret not going to see him in concert when he was close to here.
And Murray is easily one of the best comedic TV characters of the decade, so having a crush on him is understandable. Two-topic thread <3. |

Do you have any obscure folk bands that I should know about? I'm always looking to expand my musical horizons.
P.S. Good luck to your team the San Diego Superchargers in their game against the Evil Denver Bronco's tomorrow. |

Donovan is the musical equivalent of Crystal Light.

How you missed a singer who has been around for more than 40 years is beyond me.

i've loved donovan since my older sister started listening to him in the mid- to late-sixties. "isle of islay" and "catch the wind" are
my favourite songs of his.
"universal soldier" was written by buffy saint marie, who is somewhat obscure in general, but revered in folk circles. she's written some amazing songs, and is involved in a bunch of other creative endeavours. she has a scary vibrato when she sings, but an intriguing style. |

How you missed a singer who has been around for more than 40 years is beyond me. Well, to be fair, I've only been around for 20. Jim Croce is amazing. |
