Don't hate me, but honestly my reaction when I heard the Melissa O'Neil commercial (I wasn't sitting in front of the TV when it came on)
was..."that name sounds quasi familiar."

Can these commericals be viewed online anywhere? I'm guessing the other winners will have their own when they announce the Ontario/Quebec/East Coast
audition locations.

This show is such a joke.
I can't wait till the show opener. Ben: WE ARE LOOKING FOR THE NEXT CANADIAN SUPERSTAR! RYAN, KALAN, MELISSA, EVA, AND BRIAN ALL HAVE ONE THING IN COMMON. THEY ALL ARE LIVIN' THE DREAM AND BECAME THE CANADIAN IDOL! WITH OVER 1 MILLION UNITS SOLD ACROSS CANADA AND AROUND THE WORLD, THERE IS NO STOPPING THE CANADIAN IDOL ALUMNI ROASTER FROM STRIKING IT BIG. THIS IS A REAL CHANCE AT STARDOM, A REAL SHOT AT FAME. FOR SOME, IT'S THEIR ONLY HOPE. WHO WILL MAKE IT ON TO HAVING A CONTACT WITH SONYBMG AND THEIR RECORD ACROSS ALL OF CANADA, AND WHO WILL FALTER AT THE HANDS OF THE TOUGHEST COMEPETITION IN CANADIAN MUSIC. THIS IS CANADIAN IDOL!!!1111 Please. Sorry for the screaming caps, it's to illustrate Ben's fake overenthusiasm at explaining these lies. |

small clip with melissa singing from dirty dancing =D
Melissa O'Neil is one of the featured vocalists in the Toronto production of Dirty Dancing. (Cylla von Tiedemann / Mirvish)
O'Neil having time of her life in Dirty Dancing musicalUpdated Fri. Dec. 21 2007 10:51 AM ET Eye on Idol Season 3 Canadian Idol Melissa O'Neil has used her exposure on the show to head in a whole new direction - and is clearly having the time of her life. As one of the principal vocalists in "Dirty Dancing: The classic story on stage," O'Neil belts out the production's biggest hits on the stage of Toronto's Royal Alexandra Theatre. The show opened in November and was set to end in February, but after playing to consistently sold out crowds, has been extended to August. O'Neil plays various roles in the ensemble and sings four songs, including the exceedingly popular "Time of My Life" and "Do You Love Me." The best part, says the laid-back Albertan songstress, was that the role just fell right into her lap. "The casting director gave a call to my label," O'Neil told Eye on Idol. "She said she wanted me to meet with their musical director. I said I'd love to because I love musicals and I've been in a headspace lately where I've been so open to anything that comes... It was really, really nice." The 19-year-old O'Neil hadn't even seen the original "Dirty Dancing" film. Hitting theatres in August of 1987, it was released almost a full year before she was born. Despite having no previous experience in theatre or dance, O'Neil says she's gotten used to the sexy moves she pulls off in many of the numbers, but says the hardest thing to cope with is her new schedule. "I was really upset by the fact that I couldn't go home for Christmas," said O'Neil, whose family lives in Calgary. "We actually have more shows during the Christmas weeks. I'm glad my mom could come here or else I'd be spending Christmas alone, which would suck." After spending two years after her Idol summer dating her Idol runner-up, Rex Goudie, O'Neil says she's currently enjoying the single life and doesn't have much time for a relationship. She offered little advice for current Idol couple Brian Melo and Tara Oram, saying life in Canada's public eye really isn't that difficult. "(They should) soak it up for what it's worth," she advised. "The star system is not the same way as it is in the States where there's such a spotlight on people's relationships. They'll get a few weeks of people talking and asking about it and then it's over. Then they can just be a couple." As for her own musical spotlight, O'Neil is still signed with Sony BMG but hasn't yet begun the process of looking at songs for her next album. "It's not the number one priority at the moment," she said. "If (performing in musicals) is what life has in my future, I would love to do that. If it's making more CDs then I'd love to do that. I'm just so open to what life has for me."http://www.ctv.ca/servlet/ArticleNews/story/CTVNews/20071218/CI5_ONeil_Dirty_Dancing_071218/20071219?s_name=idol2007&no_ads=

Melissa looks inuit in the last pic.
I'm glad she is doing so well in theatre. She can get this experience and then work the NY scene. I'd drop the music thing, being just a Canadian recording artist isn't enough to pay the bills anyways unless ur name is widely known and even then. I can see her doing this for a long time, good on her. <3 Melissa. |

Geez rb get with the program, I already posted about Steffi D's new show.
As for Melissa she was always so fun to watch in her performances so I can see her being great in musicals. |

How could I possibly put an angry carpet munchin' slant on Steffi D having a television show?

Anyway, check this out... http://www.ctv.ca/servlet/ArticleNews/story/CTVNews/20061106/idol_calendar_061106/20070119?s_name=idol2008&no_ads= I'm surprised that Kalan has a lot of scheduled performances. Nice to see Jaydee has two scheduled concerts as well. Chad, Carly Ho, and LLF are also performing. And it's really nice of them to include Keith (ROBBED!) and Renee. For a semi-finalist, he sure gets a lot of attention from CI franchise. Looks like last season's winner isn't doing much to promote his album. L-O-S-A-H!

I heard Brian's solo tour is suppose to be in March/April but that's just what I heard. Chances are I won't go. It was worth it to see him and
Carly Rae but I don't know if I'd fork out the coin to see just him.
I also noticed that about Keith though, the CI website has posted lots of articles about him and Renee and what they've been up to. It's good. He was so robbed and should have been Top 10. |

Thanks guys. Tomorrow I will be the legal drinking age in my province. I promise I won't drink too much QN, I'm not much of a drinker anyway. I suppose
now that I'm legal though I might find some drinks I like at bars and become a lush. We shall see.
