This is assuming the sex was consensual and legal. Isn't she the one that gets the last word on using birth control? In the end (not literally), all he did was compliment her experience and donate some sperm. To use an analogy: If a woman invited a man into her house and he brought some wine to compliment the dinner, is he responsible for cleaning up the dishes or re-stocking the pantry?

Why should the woman have to solely support a child for the rest of his or her life. Guys know how to use condoms. Even if she says she's on the pill. And if you don't like using condoms, then don't have teh sex. My sister raised her daughter by herself while the father had a nice apartment in midtown Manhattan and never paid a DIME towards her support. Of course, don't forget the burden to the taxpayer due to someone who doesn't think a child needs two parents or more materialistically, two incomes.

A woman has sole control over her body and the choice of abortion (as she should). And unmarried women have sole custody over their child (as they should). The only reason we have a man paying is because of an ancient sense of ownership and social patriarchy. So if a woman needs money, she should petition the State, not the sperm donor.

I have watched for years while everyone at OT ridiculed you and, while I never felt sorry for you, I did think some posters were a little harsh. But you really need to get your head out of the clouds. You may be well educated, as you love to point out (and you really would be well advised to not flaunt it....there are far more prestigious schools than UC Berkeley, and some of us have earned degrees from them) , but you very clearly have zero life experience. You need a hard dose of realism with your morning coffee, you fucking child. ETA: And unmarried women have sole custody over their child (as they should). Wrong. I'm not even sure what you're babbling about here. There is no guarantee that an unmarried woman will obtain sole custody. Sure, many have PRIMARY custody, but that is different than sole custody. That's 8 opportunities she can prevent having a baby. Encouraging a relationship, positioning himself and wearing a condom on the only opportunities he can do to prevent having a baby. She has more options and she gets the last word through the whole process, so why is he responsible????

It's all an effort to further male-dominated hegemony and social control. Men want to further their power, thus push for these relationships. And women want to fight for money as a means of survival even if it means being kept and taking a major step down in the social order.
