The boy's last walk was so pathetic. The mom practically climbed on stage with him.

Have only caught the one episode - the one where little miss made-up blondie supposedly won, then they re-figured and found out that she didn't.
I thought it was interesting the way they portrayed the male judge. First, during the introductions they give both female judges' credentials, which include all sorts of pageant experience. Then they introduce him as "a local businessman" with a bit of a pause afterward -as if to let you form your own conclusion. Then, there were other shots of his face with a weird-ass half-grin while observing the girls on stage. He creeped me out. I think any man who goes to these things and is not a parent, family member or close friend of the family should be suspect. It's just not right. |

Why do all of their eyes look alike?

The girl in the black and white picture is probably 6 or 7. She looks about 16.
And all their eyes DO look the same. How creepy. |

None of their eyes are focused, and the little girl in the cowboy hat, her
eyes are crossed.
To me, they look like they photoshopped doll's eyes onto the kids' faces. Just wrong. |

OMG, last night was just a mess. Those kids were way creepy in all that makeup and hair and the amount of money those families are spending. EEK!
The family with the three girls, the father was an E4 and mom obviously didn't work, they're probably on foodstamps with that many kids or very close. I bet she was spending all her husbands combat pay on pageants instead of doing something smart with it. And that poor little girl that didn't want to be up there. It was pretty funny that they gave everyone an award so the parents would (or at least seemed to) think their kid was talented and come back and pay to be in more pageants. The mom who was so proud that her kid worked so hard and got the princess title, um there were only two girls lady. It's a huge racket. And all the moms were huge. I think they're doing pagents to make themselves feel better. |

I agree. The moms are either ugly or fat. It is sad they are living through their children.

Another thing that creeped me out was the older girl (13 or 14'ish who wasn't profiled) was working with the $50.00 an hour coach...I get why the
little contestants make these over-exaggerated faces but to see a "grown" tweenie (compared to the toddler/7 yr olds) make fish-lips kisses or
cross-eyes while head-waggling was ridiculous.

Agreed. I can see using a coach if there had been a talent or interview portion of the pageant, but not when all they do is walk around and bop their heads

meatball77 wrote:This is what's truly been impressing me each time I've happened across this show. I mean, I've always known these people were twisted freakazoids inflicting major psychological damage on their children and perpetuating outdated, reductive cultural ideals, but it's only lately I've realized what gigantic suckers they are, too. The amount of money that goes to talent coaches, makeup artists, and wardrobe, plus pageant entrance fees, etc. etc. And the fact that these people pay every penny willingly, proudly...well, it kind of makes me want to start my own pageant. I mean, what's the overhead on renting some crappy meeting hall? Buy a few cheapass trophies and sashes, hire some whorey friends to judge..what's left? The Li'l Miss Sugarplum Princess Pageant is taking applications, kids! |

I just wish I could get in on it. I'd be a good pageant coach. Walk around in a circle, bop to your right then to your left, blow kisses, look at each of
the judges, don't loose your flippers
