I guess it's a mini competition between four people each week, and it's hosted by Ted Allen <3 The first episode is titled "Octopus, Duck, Animal Crackers". It starts tonight at 10pm/9c. Hosted by Ted Allen (Food Detectives), the series challenges four up-and-coming chefs to turn a selection of everyday ingredients into an extraordinary three-course meal. After each course, a contestant gets "chopped" until the last man or woman left standing claims victory. Each week, a rotating panel of culinary elite judges including Alex Guarnaschelli, Aaron Sanchez, and Geoffrey Zakarian will decide whose dishes shine the brightest and award the winner $10,000.

Posts: 6 (01/14/09 01:08 AM) Reply Quote More Recent Posts	Some 1st Epi thoughts - Will someone please find the real Ted Allen and and get that IRobot impostor out of there - everything he says sounds forced and emphasized. I like how they have 4 ingredients they have to use.. some where interesting. I also like how they all have their own individual stations and the judges are in the same room, close enough to see everything, but not right on top of them 30 minutes to make a course is perfect, just enough to cook something, short enough to make the cheftestants panic, and keep the show flowing Judges play by play is nice.. can only imagine if Tom C. did that.. Wow..the Chopping Block?? Couldn't see that coming.. Seems like a cross between Top Chef and Iron Chef, but it is more Iron Chef but more of a game show then a reality show - go big or go home! I like how at the end they judge the progression..as well as the dessert on it's own. The Chopped Champion - As a suggestion.. i'm sure no one would have a problem with calling the champ The Chop Chef...right? I liked it.. good flow to the show, I guess they'll have new judges each week. Food Network site says they've done 4 additional episodes..

I will watch again, I like the premise and LOVE the fact the are given things they HAVE to use. and I want duck w/ chocolate pancake now.

It's like a mix between Iron Chef and the Quick fire challenges on Top Chef. Yeah, and I won't lie, that rocker guy was hot. I was pulling for Sandy to win and he did. <3 Good stuff!

I thought it was pretty lame tonight when they hid the milk and cream from them in the 1st round and then ran out of bread in the final round. I'm interested to see what these people can create with miscellaneous ingredients and a full kitchen--no reason to add difficulty by taking away normal kitchen items. Can you imagine the shit-fit Bobby Flay or any of the other Iron Chefs would throw if their kitchens ran out of basic ingredients?

I think it was citrus, then eggplant, then something else... Dude, if that many foods cause you issues, maybe you should look into another profession.

But anyway, can you believe the guy who dropped the meat on the floor and then continued cooking with it won? He didn't even rinse it off! Then again, they let that double dipper through as well. New season starting in a couple weeks!
