Leaving so soon? New "American Idol" judge Kara DioGuardi could be gone after just one season on the show.

Amid all the talk of Simon Cowell leaving after next season, and Paula Abdul possibly heading for the exit after this season, Kara told TV Guide Magazine last week that her deal was just one year and she's in a wait-and-see mode.

"I'm only here for one season," she told TV Guide Magazine exclusively. "That's what we've discussed. So we'll see what happens. Hopefully they'll keep me on."

For his part, Simon doesn't seem to care much. This is what he had to say when the magazine asked him whether Kara would be returning next season.

"I would imagine so, but the only say I have is about Ryan, Randy and Paula," Simon said. "I've always made it clear that I wouldn't like to do the show without them. So that's all I'm really concerned about."

Things were expected to be a bit rocky for the new judge as she tried to break into what's become the most iconic threesome on television over the past seven years. Most fans of the show have a pretty solid love-or-hate attitude toward her.

She told TV Guide Magazine, "I feel grateful to America that they let me grow and they let me find my groove on the show and that they were patient. And hopefully I haven't disappointed them. It's been a scary experience at times."

Former "Idol" executive producer Nigel Lythgoe told EW.com that he likes Kara, but isn't a fan of having four judges on the show.

"I'm not a four-judge fan, because I think it takes away from the time of the show, and you're constantly rushing," Nigel said. "But I think she's very good."
