TMZ has learned Lythgoe, who has executive produced the show for seven seasons, has just taken himself off the program and will not return. No replacement has been named. We're told Lythgoe felt it was time for someone else to step in. Sources say he's said privately he is "not passionate about it anymore." "A.I.'s" ratings slipped last season, and the show was getting a little boring. We're also told Lythgoe is working on some kind of a joint venture with Simon Fuller, who created "Idol." Lythgoe wants to spend his time on "So You Think You Can Dance." Afterall... he's is a dancer.... well, sort of.

Go away Nigel and never ever ever ever come back. Now this show might actually be able to be saved with the antichrist gone. This was perfect timing and is a nice early birthday present to me :) He better not be replaced with someone equally as ancient and boring.

Now we won't get to see the robotic and synchronized arm wave movements from the audience (or should i say, the ''mosh pit''. LULZ!) each time someone sings an inspirational song anymore. And maybe we'll see better theme nights for the coming season. I doubt it though.

On Saturday, "A.I." held one of their typical open call auditions in San Juan, Puerto Rico and instead of the usual capacity crowds lined up practicing their awful renditions of tired Whitney Houston standards, according to El Nuevo Dia, only around 300 fools turned out. Ay dios mio! In contrast, last month 7,000 wannabe Taylor Hicks' camped out overnight at auditions held in Northern California. In other words, don't expect to see a Spanish-language Carrie Underwood album anytime soon.

The group numbers will prolly be more edgy and by that I mean, they're singing AND running thru obstacle courses at the same time. Another reality show Romber can destroy. Or perhaps Alison Grodner? The Top 24 will consist of siblings that have never met, quintuplets, ex-couples, mactors, and a secret twist called "America's Idol" - where you America is in charge of that person's song choice each week. Hmmmm. actually, that's not a bad idea after all.

They should really give it over to World Race Productions. That way Phil can host and AROUND THE WORLD IDOL! where the contestants race around the world to complete the tasks of singing in various clubs and strip bars.

I practically snoozed my way through AI 6. Compared to that shitfest, AI 7 was a dream fucking come true. Maybe if he had embraced the fact that fans between the ages of 15 and 65 do watch this show and actually LIKED Cook instead of the over-pimped teeny bopper, and had gotten some better theme weeks perhaps this season would have done better in the ratings.
