For you Wade Robson lovers he is choreographing the crew on one of the episodes. And Nigel is there for early judging as well. Thank you Australia for the best of the franchise in SYTYCD. I was hoping that our Canadian production could match the Aussies, but overall it wasn't close. Canada loses with uninspired music, and lacklustre judges and host. But in defense we probably had better dancers overall, and more consistent choreography. Forever (dancers name) probably moved me more with this audition than just about any other dance routine I have seen. It isn't pretty, but she is so amazing in her performance, you get totally drawn into her. I brought it up in the US SYTYCD thread, but it seems wiser to not intermingle them all, especially if people want to avoid getting spoiled if they want to check things out later on down the line. I just watched the first set of auditions in Sydney and that Forever chick gave me the creeps (in a good way). I did think her Joker makeup was a bit distracting, but her movement was so controlled and spot on that I was able to look past it. the Matt Lee look-alike was pretty funny, getting in to all the clubs for free, but no ticket...he was 31, isn't that pushing it a bit in terms of the age requirement? I remember Kate from last year (KATE <3) was 29, so I thought 30 would be the cut-off point, but guess not. That one girl breaking down over being interpreted as rude...um, hello, she was rude. Anytime you preface something by saying "no offense, but..." it's because you know what you're about to say is likely to be considered rude and possibly offensive. There was definitely a better way for her to phrase what she wanted to say. Then after her huge meltdown, the ticket goes to some random no-name who we haven't even seen or heard from I will be checking out the next set of auditions shortly, I saw Wade and Nigel in the previews. Please don't infect Australia's version, Uncle Pervy! Aren't he and Bonnie split up now? AWKWARD.

I was going to check if it had started. I love Bonnie and could do without Nigel, and didn't know they split. And the age limit is 35 I think. Remember the guy that almost made it to top 20 last year as a partner dancer, I think he was 35. Maxx girl was rude, and she needed to own that. And then to say that she no longer looks up to Jason anymore, MORE rudeness. She disappointed me big time, and glad that she didn't make it through, she wasn't all that good. I am happy to see a beautiful girl under the Forever make up. But I actually appreciated the make-up with that routine, it took away the cuteness that might have distracted from the emotion of the dance.

I love the fact that she put on a story with her dance, and it completely unique to anything the franchise has ever seen. Though who knows if she can actually handle other styles.

I think that the remark made by the host "Australia's going to love you" definitely bodes well for her making the top 20. Christian from the first episode is a shoo-in for the top 20, but he seems too affected for my liking. I am pulling for Charles, kinda wild and definitely a ton of fun. Stephen (Cats dancer) is awesome too. I don't remember too many of the girls performances other than Forever. Although I do remember the names Maxx, Sari and Pania for the girls.. unique names all around. downloaded ep2, looking forward to watching it in a few. I am overloaded tonight. PR Canada, American Idol tonight and SYTYCD Australia. What the hell am I going to do next week when I am moving and Survivor and Amazing Race start... as Carla would say.. Posts: 2224 (02/03/09 06:00 PM) Registered user Reply Quote More Recent Posts	I watched ep 2 and probably the first thing I noticed was Maxx's Rainbow Brite hair in the crowd. Apparently 3 rejects from Sydney came back to try out in Brisbane! Chloe, Susanna and Maxx...that was a great moment at the end of the episode. The stuttering tapper just reeks of equal opportunity casting and they'll surely cut him the first chance they have in the top 100. I really can't imagine him being in the top 20. Yeah, Christian being a part of a well-known dance studio and having worked with Cirque du Soleil makes him basically seem a lock for the top 20, but I don't know if he'll be as big of an audience hit as someone like Jack or Rhys since he seems to have that air of "been there, done that, know everything" that the judges picked up from Danny in US season 3.

Melbourne and Adelaide went without much of a hitch, it wasn't terribly surprising the people who they put through (the ones who had been focused on) I really liked the little squat dancer girl to get the very last ticket (Sammi) and the weight-loss girl (Ann Marie). There were some people in Melbourne I didn't want to see go through, such as cheerleader skank Penny and rhythmic gymnast Eley May (or however the hell she spells it), but I think it's kind of clear on these kinds of shows that appearances do work to your advantage. Top 100 in Sydney next week and the top 20 revealed - eeeee, so excited! It does bother me Nigel's going to be having his say on who makes it. Butt out and stick to your own series!

I thought it was a bit crap they kept on turning him down, but I guess persistence pays off when it shows the judges how badly you want to be there vs. some people who are good enough to coast through but the experience isn't all that important to them.

Ya, I agree, it was 4 Canadian judges that picked the Top 20, and it should only be the Australian judges that decide. Canada's top 100 episode was awesome. They had the 4 choreographers/judges deciding. And each judge put together a routine and then they danced and cut. Jazz/Hip hop/Ballroom and then difficult contemporary. It was totally Canadian, and I think that made for a more geniune feel and pride that we had some talented choreographers and dancers.

But watching him, he didn't seem to have it together enough to make top 20. Andrea, the 'baywatch' babe was incredibly gorgeous, but nothing spectacular with her dancing. I liked Renee the dyslexic for her story, and Ann Marie the once chubster. I was blown away by Omar, living on the streets and only dancing for a year. WOW! The guy has it in him to dance for sure. He seems so calm and is very unique. My bet is his parents couldn't live with his being gay. This years Rhys is the blond guy who is just a little too flexible for a real man IMO. ..lol (his boyfriend must love it though)

It's up Vee, just downloading it now. Anyone else loving Sam Sparro's music that they used through auditions? Good Aussie boy, got nominated for a Grammy against Lady Gaga, Daft Punk and Madonna. Every gay boy's dream in the same category as Madonna he is. Funny thing was I caught on to him through SYTYCD Canada when Vincent used his song Black and Gold for one of his solo's. Love his music, and glad that they are using it in Aus version. Many thoughts out to the Aussies in Victoria losing their lives and homes in the fires. Very tragic. I stayed south of Melbourne for a few months some time ago and it is horrible to hear of the tragedy there.

Compared to the US version, they really show off the talent, and considering the population base of the two countries, it is shameful that Nigel has to resort to so much gimmicky folderol -- he should be able to showcase all the good dancers and create the drama from the cuts at choreo. Speaking of which, is it me or do the AUS dancers excel at choreo compared to the US dancers? Everyone seemed to be getting it (the Robson routine seemed to be a breeze for all concerned) while the US version has half the dancers looking around lost. Again, considering the population base, it's shameful. It just shows that they let too many clowns through the turnstiles and not enough real talent. This is the same problem with Idol. Perhaps it was the hype from this thread, but I just didn't really click with Forever. Didn't do anything for me. OTOH, Christian looks like he's on another level compared to the other dancers, like an AUS version of Danny. When they brought up the three girls including Max and slowly gave each one a ticket, there was real palpable drama (although I have to say that I knew Max was getting a third ticket because after the emotional wringer they put her through, it would have been cruel not to). I was surprised at how meh a judge Gilkison was. I thought he would be more technical or something.

Canadian version does it to a lesser degree, but I wish it were like Australia. It is too bad about the hype I (we) created about Forever, I got to see it without any preface. Compared to any other dancer she has far more ability to 'act' during her dancing, but the dancing itself... Christian bothers me for 2 reasons, his hair and his saccharine sweet smile is just too cute. But, let me see him dancing a bit more and I can forgive that. I watched the top 100 and as much as I think Australia owns Canada in it's production, Canada's top 100 was put together and designed in a far superior manner. It was too haphazard to watch the rehearsals and a few shots of some of the dancers. And am a bit disappointed with the calibre of dancers in the Australia top 100. But it may be just because they focus in on more of the losers for the day, and we rarely get to see the really good ones. On an aside, WTF up with the braids in Bo's hair? Kelly Abby is a great choreographer and so is Gilkison, but Kelly is a much better judge. .. and Nacho Pop's Brooklyn affected speak is annoying I like the guy with Maxx in this photo, masculine dancer, and think he has a shot at winning this year. I think they both make the top 20. The photo is from the tv ad they filmed before the show was aired. Think they used only top 100 dancers for the shoot. Last Edited By: Heliox 02/09/09 12:34 PM. So happy to see little Sammi make it through, along with Maxx and Ann Marie (weight loss girl). I think these early rounds are just about getting out all the "pity" put-throughs, like Jet, because persistence really can't be mistaken for actual talent and ability. I thought it was kind of a dick move of Nigel (with him, what isn't?) to single out Drumstick and make it seem like he was eliminated only to end up complimenting him. I thought I saw stuttering guy at some point, but was he sent home without fanfare at some point or is he still there? Heath dancing on that bad ankle is OOF - painful to watch. I'm hoping he gets it looked at before the next round. A lot of the guys I've seen remind me of Travis(US2) and Rhys - don't know whether that's just most male dancers being somewhat 'flamboyant' or they're aiming for the comparison. I did notice Christian's hairstyle had changed since we last saw him. OK, epi 5 just finished downloading so off to watch that now. Can't wait to see the top 20!

I'm not talking about gays in general, god knows even the US version has plenty of those (eventhough they do have a penchant of selecting more boyish and masculine guys for their top 20) .. Mark from last season was obviously one of them gays. I'm talking about the EYEBROWS-PLUCKIN, hands-flailin, pinky-raisin, flamin-flamin QUEENS. They're just goddamn off putting and unappealing. Why does this matter? Well, it doesn't, except for the fact that they will be paired up with girls and thus taking the masculine roles of the dance. Which .. doesn't .. work.
