I have to agree that I can't see Tyson as all that negative. Sure, what he says, on the face of it is negative, but it's said completely tongue in cheek that you know he's not seriously saying it. We're laughing with him when he mocks Coach with his co-Coach commentary and it even shows he's thinking ahead to tribe switches. We're laughing with him. And I love watching him as a character. He's funny and he can't help but not be serious. I would say he's a complex character too.
Coach, on the other hand, is a dream come true for casting people. Egotistical, full of himself, hypocritical, overly serious, overestimates himself and underestimates others. We're laughing at him. And it's funny to see a boob like him make his way and eventually get taken down. One dimensional villain. Perfect.
I'm not sold on Erinn either and I'm glad to see some posters see there's something a little wrong with her edit. She doesn't do much, she's misrepresented as being close with Candace even when Candace has nothing nice to say about her (in interviews) and she seems like the kind of person that's shallowly opportunistic rather than having much of a bond with anyone, hence her alienation from the tribe. I'd say she was more middle of the road than complex.
Sierra is another surprising character. She gets shown often with plenty of confessionals of what she's thinking. She has a bond with Brenden which has paid off with him making an alliance with Taj. She was an outcast in the first ep but has managed to fit into the tribe comfortably, in no small part to how Coach tends to go after other people he finds threatening to him.
Brenden and Taj is a great pairing. The millionaire alliance.
Love how they just pull two people in without much
consultation and we still have not seen them approach the people they brought up. The fact that we were shown JT and Stephen bonding the previous episode
points towards interesting developments in the future. Complex and somewhat positive, I think.
I wrote a lot more than I expected to but I do like watching these characters. Sandy isn't winning but she's great to watch. She provides good funny
quips and comments. Joe who and blonde whatshername are obvious fodder. The moment they get more confessionals than usual, their time might be up. I like
Spencer but he hasn't been given much meat in terms of story. He might be playing a larger part down the road.
Good season. Can't wait to see how it all plays out.
