They have never, ever made him suspicious without justifying it in other means. The bloody hands after JD was about it to linger for a week -promptly addressed by a sad, "I tried to save him." They have elluded to his past but in the slight of hand about it being more about JD -an obvious moment in retrospect of the writers saying, "Aho, if you were paying attention you would have noted..."
The skeet shooting scene was put in there way back in episode three for a reason -and it wasn't presented as a Henry choking under pressure angle, where he redeems himself later by shooting successfully.
The killer is going to be introduced before the first episode break, and most likely be in all the episodes -only Abby, Trish and Henry have been. And the killer is going to have poigant scenes -and usually one in the first episode. And it's going to be something that encompasses the whole series -that is Abby being met by Henry at the hanging tree -leading to the first episode break. It's basic storytelling and it will come true.
Me, I'd love it if it were Trish -she was my first pick and then promptly switched to Henry- but I'd rather Cassidy chew the scenery than Gordon, and in pyscho wedding white.
