Okay, so Probst has said extensively in his blog and such that this season is all about the notion of the first impression and whether or not it is true in the
end. Most likely it will not be true, so an underdog winner is more likely.
I think Sierra's quote in the episode was probably the most important. "They say first impressions are everlasting, but I'm hoping to change that." I think it's very telling that she is trying to overcome a negative first impression, and that is backed up by her actions via building the shelter. I'm thinking this could be the winners quote.
If not, it's important to look at other potential underdogs. I think from the premiere Stephen, J.T., Erinn, Sierra and Sandy are the biggest underdogs.
Stephen- Sandy tells us he's a geek, he gets a vote from Sydney, he's worried about him and J.T. clashing.
J.T.- Stephen thinks they won't get along, he thinks he won't get along with people. (He is not as good of an underdog as the others but it still portrays the notion of an incorrect first impression if him and Stephen were to align and make it far together.)
Erinn- Tyson thinks she is a bitch, she is clearly out of her element. She's very much an underdog.
Sierra/Sandy- For obvious reasons they are clear underdogs (their tribes voting them out) and overcoming the odds is something not only that we are rooting for but that would fit really well with the theme of the season. Sierra is more of an underdog than Sandy at the moment, because the last time we saw Timbira, Ben said she still needed to go. Sandy has survived a vote and perhaps already overcome her first impression.
Thus, I think the winner will probably come out of this group. Look out for Stephen, J.T., Erinn, Sierra (and Sandy, maybe).
Thoughts?
