I didn't watch the audition phase this year, so went into last night fresh. I was very underwhelmed. Not one single person stuck out to me and made me want to support them. They could all go home and I wouldn't really care.

And I hate hate hate the new (old) format of random groups of 12. Didn't they do away with all that to begin with because it was unfair, easier for the producers to manipulate and much harder to get to know contestants? WTF? I'm sure there's a thread or threads on this in here somewhere but I don't wanna bother looking for them. I just don't know why they went back to this format (a solution to cutting a show from every week maybe?) and I wonder if (hope) other people hate this change as much as me.

Anyway, here's my rankings:

1 - Alexis Grace - I hope that's her name. She didn't wow me, but she seems to have potential without being borderline annoying, and I liked how she had taken the judges advice to change up her look.

2 - Oil Rig guy - I was ready not to like him, watching his intro it was like "OK, here's another country guy who'll make it through with no talent". But he can actually sing and he didn't sing country! Makes me love him. And he's kinda cute (but a little too stocky for me).

3 - I don't know, I guess the "Natural Woman" girl - Judges were wrong, she sang well. They just didn't want her to make it through.

4 - First girl, the old one with weird outfit - She did good and I liked her, but if she makes it (which she probably won't so it doesn't really matter) she has the potential to get annoying.

5 - Stevie Wright - I guess that's her name. Don't know why I remember her name but none of the others. I like her and that's the only reason I put her so high. She did terrible on her song, but she comes across as really likable which makes me want her to do well (though I'm sure she won't make it in this round anyway)

6 - Tatiana - So I guess she's supposed to be really annoying or something? She didn't come across that way last night. I like her, but did not like her song choice so that's why she's down here, though she sang it well.

7 - Anoup Dog - OK, during his intro I loved him and I think he's kind of cute, but I have a big problem with Anoup or whatever his name is. He makes this big deal in his intro about wanting to do songs "never done on Idol" like he's going to be real risk-taking, then he does that awful song? Blech blech blech.

8 - Country Guy - I don't like country and he brings back bad memories of Josh Gracin. But he didn't do a bad job.

9 - Carlson Girl - Very cute, but awful, awful performance. What was up with those hideous facial expressions? Girl get with it.

10 - Wife Died Guy - OK, OK, he sang well. But as soon as I saw him I started smelling that stinky air of "pimped to high heaven". He may be nice and he's obviously gone through something terrible, but it's gonna sicken me to see it used over and over again every week, not by him but by the show. If his performance had wowed me, I would've gotten behind him, but it didn't. It doesn't matter what I think though, it's obvious he's gonna make it.

11 - Black Guy - Why did he pick that awful awful song? Blech.

12 - So Boring Guy - In Webster's Dictionary under "cannon fodder" there is a picture of him.


Predictions: Well obviously Wife Died Guy is gonna make it. For girls I'm guessing Alexis, but Tatiana, First Girl or Natural Woman girl might be the surprise top-voted girl. I think the third person to make it will definitely be a guy, either Oil Rig Guy, Anoup or maybe just maybe Country Guy. My guess for the three that make it are: Wife Died Guy, Alexis and Anoup.
