Idolatry finale up! It's 4 parts (soon to be 5 parts) and includes a phone interview with Jesse Langseth (and soon to be Ricky Braddy).
It's pretty great and Slezak's hair doesn't look as ridiculous as I thought it would. If you've been keeping up with Idolatry you really do need to see this one. |

Where the hell is it?
I just went to the Idolatry site to check it out and there is no 4 part finale. The last videos up is the 2 parter pre-finale. *cries* |

SHC, I found it through a link on mjsbigblog so you might want to try that.

I found it somewhere else on the site.
Love Kristen with glasses doing Slezak's hair. It actually doesn't look too bad and it goes with the shirt he's wearing, lol. He should keep it for a bit. |

OMG the "No Boundaries" analysis is perfect. It's like getting hit in the face by a 2x4 vs getting stabbed in the stomach, which one is better?
Love it.
Plus they're so right about the guys not having any choices with the finale. They had to do Simon Fuller's pick, a reprise and No Boundaries. At least Cook had the option to do a new song, and as Slezak said they guys got to pick a song out of a list of crappy choices. I suspect after what happened with Cook last year with TWIK and Simon's idiocy they forbid Adam/Kris from not doing a reprise because I bet they both would have done a completely new song. Slezak's rage about the finale was my rage. Great finale but wtf with the duets. I laughed when it said on the screen that the Anoop/Alexis/Mraz duet needded to be completed and it was like p.s. bring your parents. I love Anoop's parents too. Fucking Lil. Also lol at Kristen, "I didn't even understand why Queen Latifah was even there." "Why was she wearing that?" Slezak's "Fergie who the fuck do you think you are?" was funny too. Of course Kristen always delivers too, "the producers probably figured if Allison didn't get a moment you would come to Los Angeles with a harpoon and stab it in their eye." Off topic but is that a Mandisa poster behind Slezak? OMG Matt promising to come back and sing Allison's first single. I hope it really happens. I agree with them thought throughout the season there was so much to hate and it's more fun to be bitter and have some fun with it but once it's all said and done you feel differently. I totally thought the Top 13 sucks and still think this is the worst season ever but in retrospect I liked it and I had fun with it and I'm going to go to the tour and scream my lungs out for Matt G.

Michael's "there would've been a jihad" was hysterical re Allison not getting a duet. and I was LOL'g over the "possibly" gay shit re Adam. Too funny! and they are right about Adam, he started off in a league of his own and just stayed consistent. On this show people really do love it when someone seems to improve over the course of the show, which Kris did. |

The possibly gay stuff was so funny. Kristen <3
I think the thing about Adam and Kris was really the song choices. Not so much improvement but Adam always picked great songs choices and just owned with them. Kris took some time to figure out what worked for him on Idol and really pick great songs for himself. I think he started off early with good song choices but as the competition progressed he picked better and better ones. Like "Man In The Mirror" for me was a totally wtf song choice and was lame and then "Remember The Time" was kind of blah but then "To Make You Feel My Love" was beautiful but it didn't have that extra something and then he got into "Ain't No Sunshine" and just progressed from there with killer song choices. Adam's song choices were consistently good and he did something with them so yeah there was no growth there but he was always excellent. |

suckshardcore wrote:Another note about song choices is that winners tend to skew with younger songs overall (in depth analysis at whatnottosing). I'm not saying that Adam's choices were boring or dated or antyhing, just that statistically it seems that the younger AI viewing audience connects better with younger songs. If you look at Top Downloads/Movie Night/F3 night where Adam did Play that Funky Music/Born To Be Wild/Cryin' as opposed to Kris' Aint No Sunshine (okay, not new)/Falling Slowly/Heartless, not to mention Kris getting Apologize to Adam's One and the trend seems to hold. Kris' improvement seemed largely aided by the producers (unintentionally) to me. Why? We don't see him at all before top 36 so we already think of him as fodder. Then, when he comes out and can sing on key (Man in the Mirror was a WTF choice, but I think it worked for him because it allowed him to sort of move around on stage w/o the protection of an instrument) it is a huge surprise to everyone. However, he wasn't allowed to use an instrument so the first time we truly saw Kris was the first week of the finals. Compare this to Adam and Danny who we'd seen perform (and perform well) since their initial auditions. Kris obviously improved as the competition went on but I think his improvement (especially as an "artist" because I think Kris was a pretty established artist before Idol) was exaggerated due to producer choices. So in short, thanks producers. |

suckshardcore wrote: you know what is funny, I was going through my emails this morning and I go back and forth with this attorney I used to work with about AI cuz she loves the show and knows i'm a tard for it too. When Kris sang Man in the Mirror I totally picked him to be the "surprise" pick for top 12 (top 13 wasn't known then) because I thought it was awesome! and throughout the season I kept picking Kris, Adam adn Allison as the best ones. taks wrote: I would agree with this. I think Adam's more eclectic choices might've gone over their heads. Adam really went for songs that have kind of stood the test of time. I feel like he delved deeper into the archives of music picking out gems that many people either hadn't heard or had forgotten about. I had never heard Mad World until he did it on the show. |

Aussie Idol looks so much better than American Idol. I like how they actually show clips of the audition and their equivalent of hollywood week in the intro
video and the judges aren't actually complete idiots and don't spend the entire time bickering with each other.
The guy actually sounded pretty good. At least better than half the people that made this years top 13. |

I'm sure you'd believe what I was doing the other night then. I made a list of all 134 Idol winners and I was Youtubing them all so I could check them
all out. I got through all the female winners and half the guys. I need a fucking job/life.
sadllama you should watch Aussie Idol with us this season. There's a group of us who always watch/discuss it here. They get to sing longer too as you can see, that was only semis and it wasn't short or too trimmed. The Aussie Idol judges have their fights too but it's not like the stooges on AI. It's usually because they care so much, not bickering about stupid shit.

Yeah... I tried to watch it but I couldn't. The kid annoyed the hell out of me in the little package and then it was just waaayy too awkward during the
performance. For the record, I'd heard Mad World before (only because of Donnie Darko).
Actually, I'd heard all of Adam's songs before, just usually not how he did them. Satisfaction/Born to be Wild/Play that Funky Music I think are all pretty well known songs (even to a younger audience). Actually, I think I'd heard every song sung on the idol stage before (oh except a few on Michael Jackson week, Iraheta's pick for example). ETA: sadllama wrote: X |
