Reply Quote More Recent Posts Message Connection Block Invite	Half ASS was an amazing season of people getting voted out who never saw it coming but since then, it seems like Probst/CBS/Survivor have become obsessed with the word "blindside" and use it to describe every single boot. Oh my god! Carlona got voted out! (even though there was obviously a chance she would be booted) Jeff: "Blindside!" Oh my god! Candace got the boot! (even though she was clearly loud and in-your-face) Jeff: "Blindside!" And then in Gabon, I feel like there were a bunch of times when it was certainly possible that certain people would get voted out but Jeff again referred to them as blindsides too. Dear Jeff Probst: STOP SAYING BLINDSIDE UNLESS IT ACTUALLY IS A BLINDSIDE!!!

Now casts are obsessed with pulling off blindsides, but I don't think that makes it a misuse of the word. I'm ok with the blindside fad, because they are more entertaining than someone who sees it coming. Unanimous blindsides are pretty boring though, because no one is pissed about it when they come back to camp.

The boots have been pretty obvious and it's not the first time when the boot gets told that someone else is going. That has been happening since season 1. They might as well label almost all boots in the series as blindsides if this is Jeff's definition.

Up until then, it could be anybody, so they're not so much "blindsides"... they're "it has to be somebody and you gave us a reason." Halfway through the season, people are either winning challenges or they're part of a good alliances. So if there's a reason someone's been around a while, sure, it would be a surprise (a blindside, if you will) if they get voted out.

They only make it look like a blindside through editing because they know that it gets people talking. Like someone else said it's an advertising phrase. It makes the tribals more interesting. But not really. The blindsides this season are really weak!

I think it should be saved for the truly epic occasions, like when a survivor who thought he/she was absolutely safe and in an alliance (eg Ozzy) gets sent home.
