Posts: 5011 (03/13/09 4:05 PM) Registered User Reply Quote More Recent Posts Message Connection Block Invite	If Aitutaki is the location for the Spring 2010 season then there will probably be a scheduling conflict with the British series Shipwrecked. For the past 5 years Channel 4 (from the UK) has used Aitutaki as it's location for their own Survivor-esque show Shipwrecked, it always films from September to mid-November and airs in the Spring so I'm not sure how the Survivor production could coincide with the Shipwrecked production (assuming they use Aitutaki as they always do) as the atoll is just too small to host two large television shows at once.

The only real holdouts would be any pregnant female winners.

Season 20 will start filming in late October or early November of 2009. I do not believe that Richard Hatch will be released from prison by that time If season 20 is the final season and it involves returning contestants then I doubt that it will involve only Survivor winners because some of them were not very interesting (Vecepia, Aras, Amber) and others (Parvati, Danni) have said that they would not play again. I think that for the last season at least some of the cast and perhaps all of the cast will be selected by the viewers.

Posts: 2 (03/28/09 5:24 AM) Reply Quote More Recent Posts Message Connection Block Invite	It's interesting reading people's speculation about the show ending, and a lot of posters are right - why would they bother stopping when it's still such a success? That being said, I watch from the UK, and so am extraneous to any press and nobody else I know watches it. But I can tell from watching the show, season after season, that the people that make the show, Jeff Probst included, obviously love it. You can tell just from watching it, the editing, challenges, engagement with local cultures, that it's a show they're really passionate about, and so one reason for finishing sooner rather than later would be to have it go out on a high. Then again, you can never underestimate the power of a paycheque so..

Show me any other show that can still achieve consistent ratings of 13 million viewers on its 18th season. Survivor continually beats out its competition during its timeslot and it gets higher ratings than big dramas such as Lost and Heroes. Yes shows have been cancelled while still performing well, but those shows tended to have run out creatively, Survivor is a new location every year (most of the time) and rakes in tons of cash for the tourism in that location, as well as tons of cash for CBS. Survivor will continue past 20 and is likely to make it to 24, which will then be time for another All-Stars and then they may decide to call it quits. But for now, it isn't going anywhere.

They would swtich hosts (Jeff is probably expensive) - I personally think he would actully take a pay cut before he gets fired but this is the most likey option. I feel as long as they keep the exact same fonts and graphics and feel it will be fine. 2. Downsize. Have just 14 players. No big expensize rewards. Fishing gear, a chocolate cake, some burgers....nothing involving a helecopter. Scale down challenges. Scale down TC. And then your done. Even maybe lower the prize 500.000 3. Switch Times. Simply put the show at 9 instead of 8 and give the 8 hour to a show that could pull in 15+ million viewers (which surivor is actully doing close to the best job) 4. Switch days. I would LOOOOOVVVEEE it if Survivor was on Sunday (it would feel weird for a while). Instead of a crappy movie of ANOTHER 60 minutes they put on 2 hours of Survivor like TCA 5. Switch channels. Put Survivor on one of the other CBS/VIACOM owned stations. Put it on THE CW or even MTV or VH1.

Posts: 7 (04/08/09 11:59 PM) Reply Quote More Recent Posts Message Connection Block Invite	I went to Aitutaki a couple weeks after the filming, and spoke to the hereditary chief, who was extremely desirous that Survivor return to Aitutaki. Don't know if the garbage controversy came later, but the island was almost in a depression that SEG was gone. I was there on Rapota when the Shipwrecked producers showed up in a couple boats, just starting to set up for that fall's shooting. They were very low key. They close two motus that Survivor used, but the production isn't that much of a presence. Not like Survivor, which hired everything in the way of resources. Three of the motus Survivor used, and Exile Island, would be open, plus there were one or two other options for camps. The problem would be shutting down virtually all the tourism again ... I hope they do go back ... looking forward to Samoa too.
